I have 2 rooms reserved at POFQ under the AZZ code (9/29-10/4). Going is myself, DH, DD(20 months) MIL and BIL. My husband and I have been to WDW 8x over the past 10 yrs. POFQ is one of the resorts we have never stayed at. MIL and BIL have never been to WDW so this is their 1st time, so I really want their time to magical. I just checked the web site for home away from resorts under the BAS code to see what is available. We can switch our stay from 9/30-10-5. The cabins came up for $998. We are paying $948 for FQ. My MIL would love us to be all together which the cabins would allow but I don't think we will get the disney feel.
So here is my question....
Would you switch to the cabins or stick with POFQ.

Thanks

I haven't been to either, yet. We are staying at POFQ for the first time this October. I really like the look of this resort, from the pictures. The buzz on these boards is good, too. I haven't heard too much about the cabins. The main reason that I would keep the 2 rooms would be to get a little privacy. Sometimes, even with your extended family, you just need a little family time.

...because of the relaxed air about them, and the room to move around, not being cooped up in the hotel room at night. I love the idea of having my own kitchen and so on.

HOWEVER. You have no kids to cook for or let run around to blow off steam. There is very little luggage/storage room in the cabins (though I guess you could use the bunk beds), so you'd get crowded. I'm not sure how comfortable the Murphy beds are. The cabins are small, too, and the beds are only doubles. And yes, the Disney theming is definitely a step down. The pool is boring, too, by the way....

So in your place, I think I'd go for POFQ.

My 2 cents....

Kris

I would absolutely keep POFQ. You'll have two bathrooms and better transportation. You can even ask for and will probably get connecting rooms if you want to all be together. The only way I would get the cabin would be if I planned to cook.

Thank you all. I decided that we'd be better off at POFQ. My DD loves the water and will probably enjoy the themed pool more. I just don't think that I'd get the feel of Disney at the cabins.

I've been interested in staying at the cabins also but have read many negatives about transportation. I believe you have to take one bus from the cabins, then get on another bus that goes to the park. I would emphasize to POFQ how important it is for your family to be close together. I'm sure they will accodomate you.

My two cents, spend it wisely:

Though I haven't stayed in the cabins, we've been through FW several times and have eaten at Trails Crossing many more. The place is just great! Keeping your family together would be a great reason to stay over there.

As for POFQ, its ok. The resort is recently re-opening (3/04) after a refurb, which was more a post 9/11 shut down. It is spread out and themed very nicely. The food court's service area is small and is always crowded.

A word about the bus service to/from FW. It can take a bit longer than other resorts. That's our experience when visiting over there.

I've never stayed at FW but we are planning an RV trip to WDW and will be hooking up at FW.

Good luck, have fun.

I have never stayed in the cabins, but I have been to FW for the Hoop-Dee-Doo Review, and it always seems to me like oyu have to go "round robin's barn" to get anywhere. There's interior bus transportation which takes you to the bus stop to get the busses tot he parks etc. It just seems quite convoluted to me. I also don't get as much of a Disney "feel" when I am there...it's more like camping.

I'd stick with POFQ, or, if you are looking for a more condo-style unit where everyone can stay together, check into booking a DVC unit, either through Disney or by renting points from a DVC member. If you go to the DVC forum on this website, you will see a rent/trade board that might give you some help.
