I know this is not a popular or cheerful topic. But working right next to the World Trade Center in NYC, I am constantly reminded of 911 and the potential terrorist attack.

I was not a DVC member when 911 happened.

I have to believe if another terrorist attack happens, if it were a major one, it would impact Disney World. Many people would be reluctant to travel, this and that.

Do you think MS may change the banking and cancellation policies if something happens?

Sorry, this is just something on my mind.

sorry, have to ask. what did they do? I think they closed the park that day, right? Anything happened at the resorts?

No offense, lat, but if there was another major attack, worrying about my DVC points would not be high on my priority list.

I have wondered about the point system and a possible terrorist attack with the upcoming elections. I asked MS about the trip insurance and do you know they only pay you $5 per point if your trip is cancelled for that amount of money you would have to rebook at a value resort.

Honestly if we lost our vacation too I would not worry about the points. Being from NY we were just so freaked out about what was happening and who was lost. :(

My SIL FIL MIL BIL neice nephew were all at WDW on 9/11 and they said the parks were closed and characters came to the resorts to try and keep some normalcy for the children. Every Tv was on what was going on. Alot of people took their kids to the pools and stuff that day just to get away from the news. I know our family was just trying to put a happy face on for the kids since they were only 3 and 1 at the time. They said it was pretty brutal especially begging for car rentals to get back to NY since all the flights were so messed up.

Although they were in a pretty bad situation it was kinda good they were at WDW at least the kids were oblivious and having fun anyway. NY was a nightmare. We will NEVER FORGET! NEVER ! I could go on but before I get too much ihnto it I will stop :(

for our 9/15/01 trip, we considered cancelling, but felt Mickey would be theraputic for DH (suffice to say: who works in NYC & with many others, was in a state of shock).
after DH finally got home, i made the calls: both Delta & WDW CRO were absolutely wonderful in offering refunds, rebookings ~ giving many options & a lot of compassion. (i can't say enough good about either ~ even the word "amazing" falls short :) ).

DVC, on the other hand, had a "tough luck" attitude (please don't flame ~ i do enjoy my DVC, but OP asked & this is what happened.........) ~
MS said they could not change ANY policy regarding points (btw, i did speak to a supervisor) ~ both said emphatically that it wasn't their fault that we might need to change plans (DUH!).

we would up using the points, but just fair warning ~ don't expect much & you won't be disappointed.

No!! Maybe for a few days if the attack was at WDW, but life has to go on, once they cleaned up the mess, WDW and DVC would have to try and resume business, maybe limited but business never the less.
