What do you take into the parks?

Camera, gum, & hand sanitizer/wipes....I also bring as little as possible...

I strongly reccomend a cooler BACKPACK. Ihad one for years it finally ripped. I couldn't find another one until I asked for advice for the Dis and of coursethey had the answer. They said Ebay. I ended up with a great backpack cooler form Ebay for about $20. There was abunch to choose from. We pack chilled water, hand sanitizer, camera, extra batteries, tissues, flip flops for the water rides so our sneakers don't get soaked. small umbrellas and light jackets in case restaurants or indoor attractions have are too cold. We go in August.

When we go to Disney the first night i go to the gift shop for a stuffed animal or souvenior and then my mom keeps the disney bag and brings like sunscreen, water for her, cell phone, and other things we need.

I don't mean to take over, but what do you do with all of your stuff when you are on a ride?

For those stroller people- I keep getting mixed messages on how to decide. We live in NY but not the city (we live on Long Island) and you don't walk much here so he would not be used to 8-9 miles in a day (we are stopping for sit lunches and dinners though), but he's 7? Not sure!!!!!!

there's only two of us (no kids yet!), so I a really good quality camera case that slings across your shoulders.....in there, i can fit: camera, ID, Disney card, chapstick. Also, Bath and Body Works has these great mini hand sanitizer gels, and you can buy these rubber things "key chain" type things that hold the gel container, and you can attach it to pretty much anything...hand sanitizer is a great thing to have at Disney parks!

We usually leave our ponchos in the bottom of our stroller and everything else is in our bag and it goes with us on the rides. Most rides have a plenty of room for your bag to "ride" with you. On the thrill rides I stick my feet through the arm straps so it is more secure.

Our first trip was last September. DD had just turned 3 and was not fully potty trained and we brought a stroller. I had a lanyard with all our KTTW cards and photopass card. I carried a purse with a brush, wipes, my wallet, cell, camera, flip video camera, autograph book/pen...
DH had a backpack (or we put it on the stroller handle) with extra clothes for DD (we let her play in the water fountain play area a lot), pull ups, ponchos, sunscreen, any suveniers we bought, extra ziplocs...

I don't remember what else, but we used almost everything we packed! Didn't use ponchos because we got lucky and it didn't rain on us.

Edit: I forgot to say we left the backpack with the stroller quite often when we went on rides. We didn't really have anything expensive in it, just the gifts we bought, since I had the camera and everything in my purse.

lol, people with kids seem like they are going on expedition. First aid kit is not needed. I am pretty sure that is that job of Disney. I have one backpack that me and the wife share through the day. The more pockets the better in the backpack. Mine is also lucky enough to come with a rain cover if needed(I can put my pack down on a wet floor for example).
The less stuff I can loose the better.

I'd rather have my own bandaids and antiseptic wipes on hand than have to run around looking for a first aid station if only a minor cut or scrape. I have a small snack size baggie in my purse that has a few very basic supplies. They don't take up much room and have come in handy for us and for others many times at the playground, the beach, the mall... I wouldn't think of heading out for the day without it.

Depends on how hold your children are.
When they were younger, the stroller is a must and you can take advantage of bringing waters, snacks, sunscreen and jacket or rain poncho depending on the weather.
Once too big for the stroller, we brought a backpack with waters/snacks and place to store jacket.

Good luck

We take as little as possible also. Just one back pack and we put in snacks and waters. We also put in the camera and video camera.

I take a backpack with:

camera (though that spends most of its time in my pocket)

frozen bottle of water

a plastic bag or 2, in case I get something like a carrotcake cookie to take away with me (usually a quart size ziplock, small so I don't take THREE carrotcake cookies with me).

a journal/sketchbook with a couple of pencils and 2 pens with different tips.

Blackberry, since I'll check the "Lines" app frequently and have my touring plan loaded.

In my baggalini I have:

Sunglasses
Small bottle of sunblock
chapstick with spf
pill case with immodium, advil, and my prescription meds
inhalor
kleenex
notecard with my adrs and their confirmation numbers
drivers license
credit cards
debit card
moleskin cut up into different sizes
cell phone
camera
hand sanatizer

I plan on carrying a camera, my phone, sunscreen, chapstick and a fastpass/ticket/id holder (and water bottles in our hands). I just found these online. They're perfect for us since we won't have to worry about the rain or water rides. You can even take picures with the camera in the bag!! And I found some ridiculously large lanyards at the dollar store so the bags would sit at the waist when we put them over the head and shoulder. Also we don't have to wait in the bag check lines because they're clear :)

For thoes who carrie a small bag/backback- bring a plactic bag with draw strings (the kind you get when you shop at pacsun) and stuff it in the bottom of your bag. On any ride that you could get wet, pull out the plastic bag, drop your backpack into it, sinch it up and go!

i leave a jacket, extra flip-flops (no matter what kind i use, i will always break a pair) and "insta-cool" ice pack (the kind you break to make cold, for left overs) in a soft cooler in the locker...it may be across the park, but its closer then the resort when I need something.

Our stroller has a lot of of pockets/compartments (thanks to some nice add-ons), so it still holds most of our stuff : wipes, light sweaters for the girls, a "slop" shirt for our youngest ( basicly a slightly larger old shirt to wear when eating "messy" foods, that comes off after the meal), a baggie with a wet facecloth for messes, sunscreen and ponchos in an envirobag at the bottom of the stroller that comes out at fold-up time, A lot of things can stay in the stroller folded up, the way it is set up.

On my person, I have a small card book with my KTTW card etc, and camera bag with spare batteries. Nothing of value stays in the stroller.

I'be been thinking of getting one of these..do you remember the brand of yours? Did it work well, as far as keeping water cool?

Hi! I haven't read through the whole thread but I'm sure the basics have been covered. I was trying to think of things we take that may have not been mentioned:

-stroller fans with extra batteries (very nice-definetly worth the $$)
-benadryl spoons (DS5 will break out in hives if even a drop of sunscreen gets on his face or ears + the excitement of WDW = awesome use of benadryl spoons)
-parachute men, you can get a big bag, especially around Halloween time, from Target for $5. Everyone likes parachute men, good thing for waiting in lines and small enough to carry around

When you go with a stroller, especially a double stroller, it is really easy to overpack.

In 2 days I will embark on my 1st solo parks trip! B/c I won't have the stroller I got a Vera Bradley mini-hipster to take with me and I was impressed with what I could reasonably fit inside: chapstick, cell phone, 2 AA batteries, camera, flip camera, money, nail file, small umbrella, hand lotion, small pad of paper and a pen.

So you really can take as little or as much as you want into the parks-I have to admit I am very guilty of overpacking our park bag!
