I would not spend the extra money for a water view room at the moderates since you do not have a balcony. Your window(s) will look out over a public walkway the door to your room will also open onto this public walkway.

When we stayed at POFQ, the first mod we tried, we didn't bother worrying about the view for the same reasons stated -- you have no balcony, so your window looks out at the outside corridor sidewalks where everyone walks by to get to their room door. I guess if you kept the drapes open you could see the river or pool, but then people walking by would see right in.

I'll pass this along and maybe she'll decide to downgrade to a standard to save some dollars. I appreciate your replies.

I would definately downgrade to standard. When I stayed there a few years ago I got a room location that I'm sure was considered water view, although I booked a standard view. The view of the river was nice when I went outside for my coffee in the morning, but I wouldn't pay extra for it. The whole resort is so nice that I would just book a standard and take a chance that I'd get upgraded.

Water (a river) ;)
That was funny.

But to be serious, we had a king bed waterview at POFQ and we faced the river. The view was beautiful. We watched people being boated to and from DD and we got to see all kinds of wildlife (birds, etc) next to the water. It was nice. I think worth the money.

We had a water view at the POFQ. We looked at the river and could see the boats and surry bikes go by. The nice thing was that not many people walked by the room. We had a first floor room. Although it was pretty, I don't think I'd request water view again...the entire resort is very pretty!

I had a waterview this past May and I am glad I didnt pay for that view!! (I was upgraded) Save money and get a standard room and maybe youll get upgraded!! Good luck!!

I think maybe the water view at POFQ is different than the waterview at POR. Unless you are in the Mansion section lots of the POR AB section bldgs aren't really by the river. It is true "waterview" may mean the quiet pool from what I understand. I honestly have not seen a room that looked like it had a view that would be worth paying extra for at POR, all of the rooms are just a few steps away from lush landscaping, magnolias and such. I felt they were all equally beautiful, though I must admit once we got to the room at night, the only "view" I had was the inside of my eyelids. Bldg 14, considered most desireable for close location to the main bus stop and main bldg, definitely doesn't have a waterview sooo it might be better NOT to pay that upgrade there.

I have some pictures of water views but do not know how to post them. Can someone help?

We were at POR in May. My daughter was in AB 1828, waterview. She was in front of the quiet pool. We were just around the corner in AB 1832. We could see the pool but not as well as from her room and we were in a standard view. I would not pay the difference for a waterview.
