MOLESKIN! Kept it with me in my fanny pack. % of our party of 11 ended up using it with great results and I ended up handing it out to a few strangers nursing blisters on benches.lol
jmminarik said:Our personal solution is either wear properly fitted walking shoes (New Balance 4E width) with our Thorlos, or as we discovered on our last trip, Crocs with thin 100% acrylic wicking socks. While we find the crocs to be confortable for walking on, they are tight for our Fred Flintstone feet and the socks are mainly to keep the instep from feeling sweaty and rubbing raw.
Good Luck,
Joe

I think the moleskin idea is just great and plan to cut some up and carry it with us in the park. Amazing what we learn on these boards. Also my poor son has battled with chafe every trip we go on and I am greatful to have learned about bodyglide, it will make life at the parks a lot happier for him.
zap800 said:you know whats funny is i have used moleskin on many a soldier, and myself on many road marches. after almost ten years in the army as a combat medic I'll tell you most people dont use moleskin correctly or even treat their blisters properly. first off all if you are going on a long day of walking like a road march or a full day of parking take 2 pair of socks and foot powder. i perfer dr. scholl's and gold bond. after about 2-3 hrs of parking change your socks and powder your feet. do this even if you think you feet are in good shape. you want to be "proactive" not "reactive". if you happen to get a blister break out the ole mole skin. do not! i repeat do not "pop" the blister! this will create an open wound that may be subseptible to infections. a blister is the body's way of cusioning a sore area. cut a small section of mole skin out. fold the piece in half and cut a hole out of the center. this will make a hole in the mole skin the same size of the blister. now peel and stick. mole skin is used to protect the blister not cover it. now the spot that rubbed your foot raw to cause a blister is only rubbing the moleskin. if you dont cut a hole in the center all you are doing is making a tighter fight around a sore area and placeing more presure on an already sore spot. i hope this will help some people. after almost ten years of treating blisters i have become one of the fastest blister fixers you will ever see. so in your travels you see a man treating a blister, wearing an army issued cammelback and getting finished in less then 45 sec it might be me. lol
edited due to i cant spell lol.

Skin Formula is a unique all natural skin lubricant created to stand up to rubbing and moisture, prime causes of skin irritation. It helps stop skin trouble before it starts, and it helps aviod the need for first aid products. It is remarkably comfortable and reliably effective. Skin Formula is not another liquid, powdery substance, lotion, potionor an empty promise.
Friction, or rubbing, is a root cause of blisters, chafing, saddle sores, rash, and other forms of skin irritation.
Skin Formula helps guard against friction - and it helps moisturize skin and protect it against dryness, cracking, and a range of specialized skin needs. It works in dry, hot, cold, humid, and even wet conditions - and it stands up to wind, fresh and salt water.
Year after year, and around, the world, the extent of the reliability of this product is demonstrated in sports. Marathon runners, cyclists, triathletes, and adventure racers depend on Skin Formula to see them through the toughest competition.
The formula combines all natural plant-derived triglycerides (waxes), with aloe and vitamin e and its packaged in a convenient stick. Skin Formula is not messy and it does not evaporate - which sets it apart from all the products made with petroleum, mineral oil, lanolin, water or alcohol. It works with surface skin cells to create an invisible barrier. It feels soft, not oily, sticky or wet, its invisible, and it doesnt fly away like a powder. Instead, it works and stays where you apply it.
hey molly if your blister is like the size of a dime cut the moleskin the size of a quarter or bigger. then cut a hole in it the size of a dime. you know fold it in half and cut a semi-circle out. you get it?molly2004 said:So would you cut the moleskin so that it is exactly the same size as the blister, just enough to cover? Or slightly larger so there's no slippage?
