Just wondering what others pay per hour to have a housekeeper in MA or New England area, as I imagine rates vary by region. I know of 2 people who do general cleaning like wash floors, vacuum, clean baths, dust and they charge $25, but not sure if this is the going rate.

It may even depend in where in MA. My mother lives 30 mins north west if Boston. Prob 10 mins from the NH state like.

She has someone clean her 3 bedroom house every other week. She pays her $60 and it takes her about 3 hours to get everything done.

This includes, dusting, vacuuming, seeping, deep cleaning if the counters, sink, 2 bathrooms, vacuuming the stairs, mopping kitchen floors.

Once every 4 months she also does the windows.

She has been cleaning for my mom for 8 years.

Hope this helps.

Most firms charge $27.50-$35hr. So, hiring a individual for $20hr cash is ok. Because, the firm pays then less than half of what they charge. I cleaned for years, so I know this is true.

It very well might depend on the area. I am more central MA, but you have provided a very helpful response. Also, the tasks mentioned are in line with what I was including except for washing windows on the outside. Thank you!:)

Cambridge...3 bedrooms 2 bath condo, $75 weekly. bedrooms only gets clean when asked.

We live about 30 miles SW of Boston. We pay $125 every two weeks to get our house cleaned. It is about 2800sf. The clean the bathrooms, vacuum, change the sheets, mop the floors, etc. Two girls are here for about 2 hours. That seems to be the going rate in our area.
