I noticed that many of you keep a bag packed with certain items for your trips to DVC. I wondered what nifty things you keep in there, so you're all ready for your next trip home!

I think its a great idea, and just started my own bag which will double as extra space for souveneirs on the way home. So far, Ive got -
Tide (One packet is never enough)
Bounce strips
coffee filters
salt/pepper shakers
sugar
night light
dishwasher tabs - for jacuzzi tub cleaning also -

What else do you put in? You guys always have the best suggestions!

Laundry detergent
salt & pepper
coffee (we like our own)
coffee filters
sugar
plastic wrap
foil
Skip the dishwasher tabs, because there will be plenty of dishwasher soap in your kitchen.

I don't have a DVC suitcase yet - we are new members. I am curious about the dishwasher tabs for the jacuzzi tub. Could you explain?

Auto dishwasher soap works great for cleaning out the jets of a jetted tub. No need to pack any though, since DVC provides lots of auto dishwasher soap in the kitchen.

We take our own fitted sheet...an idea from here on the boards. I can't stand the "fitted" sheet used in hotels and I hate ending up on the bare mattress. Without daily maid service, it makes it easier to make up the bed each morning. We bought some cheapie ones on clearance that have prints on them so we don't forget to take them home when we check out.

Yikes...my mother wouldn't have lasted a minute without coffee filters. I'm assuming they take the regular round kind, not the cone-shaped kind?

In addition to things mentioned, we pack:
Zip lock bags for leftovers or cleaned veggies in the kitchen.
Pop up laundry hamper.
Sharp paring knife for the kitchen. (Pack it in your checked luggage, not carry on or buy a cheap one when you get there).

I also had a king size fitted sheet but the bed at OKW last time had a very thick mattress so my sheet no longer fits.

Zip locs to for leftovers and snacks while we are out
Wet wipes
Misty Mates
Stamps
Ponchos

We just became members and will be making our first trip to SSR in March.
We'll be in a studio this time, and for when we stay in studios we went to Target and bought 4 nice plastic plates, bowls and mugs, all matching, so we can feel more "at home".

We did a pop up hamper at our last POR trip and it worked well.
We also always take a heating pad just in case.

We mostly stay in studios.

With my pocket knife, I also have a small cutting board. I have the handi plastic bowels with lids, they serve either as cereal bowls or storage containers, I almost always make a fruit salad with the "in-season" Florida oranges. I keep one of the laundry pens and a package of laundry soap in my DVC area as well.

I always bring microwave popcorn, coffee with the filter pacs, and creamers that I buy in bulk. (I prefer flavored ones, DH likes half and half creamers).

When my DSis/Mom come, I bring my sandwich grill, we all love grilled cheese sandwiches for breakfast or lunch.

I understand what people say about the sheets, but I would be too afraid that we would leave them!

We usually stay in studios, as it's just my husband and myself. We always have plenty of bath towels, but I bring extra washcloths. I have to have a fresh one daily, and we run out before trash and towel day. I bought a cheap pack of a dozen at Walmart for like $3. They are different colors, so they don't get mixed up with the Disney ones. Once they're dry (after use) I pack them with our dirty clothes, wash them at home, and back in the bag they go for the next trip.

What are Misty mates?

I was wondering the same thing... I was glad to see this, I was thinking I was too tired after a long weekend. ;)

They are battery operated "cannisters"(for lack of a better word right now :) ) that blow out water mist at you.

wow--dvc owner only 1 year still learning from you experts..however, if I packed some of these things my husband would blow a gasket--he already thinks I'm sure neurotic with some of the things I pack and it's tough now with the $50.00 limit on luggage!

Not sure what airline would charge $50.00 for luggage, unless you mean excess luggage. At any rate, the stuff we mentioned and take along probably doesn't account for more than a couple of pounds, so it shouldn't be an issue. I would never bring sheets or towels or a laundry hamper, since those are bulky items and are already there in some form in your villa. There is no real laundry hamper, but the OKW villas have a laundry basket, and all units (including studios) have a plastic Mickey laundry bag that we use as a hamper.

I was wondering when the misty mate question would come. Misty mates are cyclinder shapes containers that you strap around your waist. You can fill them with ice and water. They have a pump at the end of the cylinder that you pump to create pressure. After you billed up pressure there is a hose with a release valve at the end. When you release the valve cold water comes out in the form of mist. It works great it the parks on the hot day to cool off your children and yourself. You don't even realize that you have them around your waist. When you get on a ride you can just slide the cylinder around your waist to the front so that they don't stick in your back. My DH and I both wear one. They are well worth the money.

Just wanted to ad on that the misty mates that I have are not battery operated.
