What do you pack in your "day" bag?

I am a confessed over packer! What do you bring with you in your day bag? And what do you pack it in? I've heard duffle bags, back packs, etc. Can I bring my day bag and a grocery bag with sodas, snacks, etc.?
Also, we have late seating for dinner, so should I worry about packing our dinner clothes?

This is going to be the longest 77 days of my life!

Most suggest your bathing suits to be in your day bag (don't forget the sunscreen too) so after boarding and having your lunch you can get to to your cabin, chage and head for a swim. The pools are not crowded as yet and there is time before the drill.
I do not have small children so my 3 DS's pack theirs (14, 20 & 22) and go but I like to get my Palo reservations taken care of as well as trying to get unpacked before the drill. In my 3 DCL cruises and 1 Princess I have never packed my dinner clothes in my carry-on.

I make sure I have all of my camera stuff in my carry on. I don't want to miss a perfect photo opp!

We also packed our two way radios, so we could check on each other's progress as we went our seperate ways for the ressie rush

In your "day bag," you NEED any medications, your documents, and a credit card. That really covers the necessities. Other things you may want are a camera, film, swimsuit and sunscreen (I think only the people on this board and the frequent flyers know to swim after making ressies and eating!), diapers bag supplies if a baby is involved...and that'a about it.

No matter which dinner seating you have, you will have your luggage in plenty of time to dress.

I usually spend that first afternoon doing the ressie bit, then unpacking and organizing. There's frequently time for a swim before the organization time.. ...I find that a few minutes spend on unpacking for the family and organizing myself and the rest of the crew pays off very well later....and if Mom doesn't do it, it won't get done.
