What Do You Miss the Most?

I really miss the show with Mickey and friends at the Starland tent before they changed it to Toontown Fair. Also, although we only went once, I miss Discovery Island. My DD never got to go and would have loved it. I wonder if they'll ever do anything with the island. It would be really creepy to do a Hallowe'en party there:eekOOOOOOOOhhhhhh!

Hunchback probably was the best bit of theatre in WDW

I loved the opening act to Hunchback as much as the show itself. What happened to the juggler guy, was his name Eric? I can't remember, anyway I never got tired of watching him. I can't believe that show is gone. It was captivating. I miss it already!:(

Probably no one will agree with me, but I have fond memories of River Country as a kid (late 70's). Back then, there wasn't a water park on every corner - so it was pretty special. I know it is seriously out-dated, and most likely won't ever open again, but I loved it back then.

I miss:

Carousel of Progress!!!!
Horizons
Original Universe of Energy
World of Motion
Captain EO
Mr. Toad's.

The Main Street Electrical Parade. I love that song -- I have it on a CD and play it "for my son" ;)

I'm glad I'm not the only one who misses Captain EO! :)

Jouney to Imagination! I know figment is still there but I liked the whole ride.20,ooo Leagues I recall being extremely disappointed that the fish etc. were'nt real!Still it seems a shame that the lagoon has never been used.I'm only just getting over the fact that Kongfrontation has gone from US!

I miss Walter Cronkite in Spaceship Earth, Maya Angelou in Hall of Presidents (it was a different voice on our last visit), CoP (closed on our last 4 trips), World of Motion, Superstar Television, Crockett's Tavern and make your own pizza with the "follow the bouncing ball" singalong and banjo player.

Wow just realized that I never got to see Captain EO!!!

I too miss Walter Cronkite narrating the Spaceship Earth ride. Also miss: Armadillo's Country Club (DD), the Toy Story Parade (MGM), Capt EO (EPCOT), and the TON parade (EPCOT).

Wow just realized that I never got to see Captain EO!!!

I miss the days when they had AP rates in September!!!

I wholehartedly agree with everything everybody's said... especailly Carousel of Progress and River Country. I also miss the original pool at the Polynesian Village... anybody remember that?

If you really miss 20K Leagues Under the Sea, take the Disney Cruise and go snorkeling on Castaway Cay- they've sunk one of the submaries form the Disneyland 20k ride. Kind of a homecoming, of sorts.

Just had to say - I love your phrase above your countdown clock!

Oh what a great thread! I remember the restaurant with the sing-a-long bouncing ball. We had so much fun there! Not much night life in WDW in those days! And I LOVED "If You Had Wings" Such a cool ride and a freebie one at that!

Minnie Moo is gone, I never saw her but her picture is in the stables at the campground.

One thing not mentioned is the "Top of the World" breakfast buffet at the CR. It was our tradition to go there on our last day of our trip. We have old super 8 movies of the view from the observation deck. And the breakfast buffet was like nothing I had ever seen before or since. We'd go there and sit and laugh about our trip, then go out on the deck for one last look around. One time we could look way out in the distance and see the geosphere to Epcot under construction. Then we'd drag ourselves to the car for the long drive home. Cali-grill is nice I'm sure but those breakfasts were awesome.

And does anyone remember this song??? From the old (but not original) CoP. I need help with one line.

"Now is the time
Now is the best time
Now is the best time of your life

Life is a prize
with every minute
open your eyes
and watch how you win it

Yesterday's mem'ries
may sparkle and gleam
tomorrow is still but a dream
Right here and now
You've got it made!
"______________"
and you're in the parade!

Now is the time
now is the best time
be it a time of joy or strife
There's so much to cheer for
be glad you're here for...
it's the Best Time of Your Life!!!"

I miss that song!

I miss Main St., you know the recreation of a turn of the century (20th century) old time town. It has turned into a turn of the 21st century town, reminds me of a strip mall now. I miss the magic shop, penny arcade, the cinema without cash registers going off in the background and all the merchandise surrounding the screen.

I also miss b'fast at Tony's and Bonfamille's, my 2 favorite b'fast spots.

Okay, I may be a dork, but I loved Carousel of Progress. Yes, "It's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" gets beat into your brain stem but I still liked the ride.

Make mine one more vote for the Sky Way, too.

Oh, I almost forgot!! I absolutely hate what they did with the Tiki Room!! I want my old Tiki Room routine and songs back!!
