We all know what we hate about coming home from vacation, the mountain of laundry we have to get done.

But what do you love about coming home after a week's (or longer) vacation?

For me, it's sleeping in my own bed, sitting in "my" corner of the couch to watch TV or a movie, seeing my kids/grandkids, snuggling with the cat who missed me, my own shower, and cooking in my own kitchen again.

I drive everyone nuts and clean the house BEFORE we go on vacation. Love coming home to a perfect house. I get a fresh start and as the kids get older, the clean house holds a little longer each year. :lmao:

My cat, my bed, my DVR.

I also love breaking away from my routine - but like getting back to it too. Healthy breakfast, excercise, my home cooking...

Well, except for the kids/grandkids, you and I miss the same things! My most favorites are the bed and the cats.:goodvibes

PS I don't have kids ;)

Funny you ask this. I just got home from a vacation in Hawaii very early yesterday morning. The thing that I missed the most was sleeping in my own bed. The hotel we stayed at was beautiful with one exception, they had full size beds instead of queen.

The other things that I miss are home-cooked meals. I'm probably crazy but after eating at restaurants, I'm ready to cook.

I also love sitting in my spot on the couch and watching my shows from the DVR.

I love to see my kitties again. We are heading to Disney in a few weeks and will have the dining plan, and while I love all of that, I do enjoy getting back into my routine of home-cooked food. I love the weather here in New England and will appreciate the cooler temps SO much as we leave the Florida heat behind. And finally, while I like disengaging from my life for awhile, I do enjoy getting plugged back in, catching up with what I missed, and continuing on with my life. :)

This. I love walking into a perfectly clean house. Sometimes I won't even let DH unload the car til the next day.

Also, I love a week's worth of mail at once. :confused3 Something about sorting, stacking, and using the letter-opener makes me feel in control of my little world.

The FOOD!!!!!!!

It is so hard to find anything decent or edible on vacation when you don't spring for $100.00 meals eating out every day.

Nothing beats the good southern food here at home.
Or even some of my better home-cooked meals!

What I don't miss...
The old grind... work, cooking, cleaning, piles of vacation laundry...

In June, we went on a 16 day tour of the west coast states from Texas. We had an incredible time, but by about the 5th day, I so missed my home. I missed my quiet morning coffee routine, my sweet dogs, home-cooked meals, my own bed, my own bathroom, and just that feeling of peace that comes when you are nestled in your own home. Home always feels so good after a long vacation.

For me, it is that feeling of "home sweet home".

While I do love to travel and the whole experience of traveling...there is a sense of peace returning to "my" home.

Though if the house isn't quite tidy when I left--it is a little disappointing.

Moving to a new home for the first time in 11 years. Settling in shall be interesting. But at least our material possessions will be there to welcome me. :)

The trip in October will be the first one for me since getting a puppy, so I'm sure I'll miss him like crazy and love seeing him when I get back!

I love stepping into my own shower for the first time since being away, with MY towels (I have the big over-sized ones, I <3 them.) But I think my favorite moment coming home is going to the bathroom for the first time and using my toilet paper :lovestruc I hate hotel toilet paper...I'll be away for a total of 2 weeks between a work meeting and our Disney trip, I'm actually considering bringing my own toilet paper...

I was going to type this very thing!!! I clean like a nut so when I come home all there is, is laundry!!

Well considering I clean like a mad woman before we leave to go on vacation, that is what I love about coming home, I love walking in the door and it looks like a model home and smells so good. That way all I have to do is just fall down on my chase and not move. I make sure that all laundry and everything is done. I dont come home with dirty laundry either. I wash it all up the night before we come home from vacation..
I also love being able to sleep in my own bed.

The first few seconds in the house when you can smell it. When you are there everyday, you don't notice what your house really smells like. Does that sound wierd? Does anyone else know what I mean?

It used to be a great smell...now I have a dog. :upsidedow

I do this too:thumbsup2

OP--I am with you (and others) on enjoying sleeping in my own bed again.

Now that's one I haven't heard before. :)
