What do you like to make in your Crock Pot?

Hi all,

Just wanted to share a crockpot recipe that I found online and tried out over the weekend. Very yummy!

Crockpot Chicken Pot Pie

4-5 cups diced potatoes (peeled)
3-4 cups baby carrots, cut in half
2 cups chopped celery, optional
4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
1/2-1 teaspoon garlic salt to taste
black pepper to taste
1/2 cup chopped onion (can use 1-2 tablespoons dry onion flakes)
2 cans (10.75oz each) condensed cream of chicken soup
1 1/2 cups frozen peas
Chicken broth, optional
Oven biscuits
Shredded cheese, optional

Fill slow cooker 2/3 full of vegetables by dicing potatoes and place in bottom of cooker. Cut carrots into 1-inch pieces and add to cooker. Place chicken breasts on top of vegetables. Sprinkle with garlic salt, black pepper to taste and onion. Spread with condensed cream of chicken soup. Place lid on cooker and cook on high for 4-5 hours or until vegetables are tender.

To check for doneness, insert knife to the bottom of cooker, piercing vegetables. Cut chicken into shreds or pieces using two knives in a scissor action. Stir in frozen peas (and if desired a little chicken broth to create desired broth consistency). Replace lid and allow to heat for 20-30 minutes longer. Serve over toasted biscuits and sprinkle with shredded cheese.

Ingredient amounts are for a 12-cup crock-pot. Adjust for larger crock-pots by following "note". Serves 6.

NOTE: Following the 2/3 principle - for larger crock-pots, fill pot approximately 1/3 with potatoes and 1/3 with carrots. Place 4-6 chicken breasts on top, increase garlic salt 1 teaspoon (or to taste), increase soup to 3 cans.

THIS RECIPE WAS GREAT AND VERY HEALTHY! I used 98% fat free cream of chicken soup and fat free chicken broth. Very Weight Watchers friendly! You could even try lowfat biscuits too.

I need this thread... either my crook pot food is either dry or mushy. I need to start from page 1. I would love to get some staples for the crock pot it would make nights so much better... with 3 in schools days are quiet and nights are crazy.

Thanks for the tips.

simple pulled pork. season and sear part of a pork loin in olive oil and then throw it into the pot with a bottle of beer and onions on low. it'll be fork tender after a few hours, and then mix in your favorite BBQ sauce. great, easy sandwiches.
Just made this yesterday in the crock pot. It's one of my favorites. :goodvibes

I posted this on another board, just thought I would add it here. I don't know the exact measurements of the sauce, but you can really just add some of each and taste it to see if you should add more of anything else.

You can either make this in the crockpot or in the oven. If you do it in the oven, use a cooking bag, makes clean up much easier!

Chicken, any kind you like.
1 can of french onion soup
ketchup
a little brown sugar

Pour over chicken and cook in crock pot until chicken is done.
We usually serve over mashed potatoes or white rice.

One of my favs!!

I received a new crock pot for Christmas. Can't wait to try out some new recipes!

Any non-stick tips out there? I'd love to find a way to keep the food from sticking on the sides.

Hi!

Like M/M Smith said, I spray with cooking spray prior.

I also have been using a method of cleaning baked on food that I read about. Put the pot in the sink, fill with hot water and soap and add a dryer sheet. Let sit for a while and the gunk will (usually) come right off. Rinse well of course...:thumbsup2

Grape jelly meatballs are always a huge hit when I make them. I use a similar recipe, but instead of using ketchup I use Heinz chili sauce.

Bag of frozen meatballs (Sams or Costco)
1 large jar of Welch's grape jelly
1 jar of Heinz Chili sauce

In a large pot I mix the grape jelly and chili sauce and let it simmer until melted together. I put the meatballs in a crock pot, add the jelly mixture, and cook for about 3 hours. They're FAB, and people are always asking for the recipe!
I'm going to try these tomorrow! Wish me luck!!!! This is my first party.... :scared1: AND I've invited 5 families! :scared1: :upsidedow
