What do you like to make in your Crock Pot?

What about the famous DIS crockpot meatballs? No one posted that yet? or is it becasue all us DIS crock potters know it already,

If not.....here it is

Bag of frozen homestyle meatballs
cup of grape jelly
cup of ketchup (or your favorite BBQ sauce)

mix all together so meatballs are covered in sauce

cook on low for 3 hours.

During the holidays I bring these as an appetizers. But the kids LOVE them so much that I have been known to make these for dinner for them and let them eat with toothpicks.

Yikes...that does not sound all that appealing but I think I will give it a try! LOL My kids will probably love them. No offense...just that grape jelly and meat does not sound like something you would normally put together!!!:rotfl2:

I just have to tell you guys this story.

I bought a new 6 qt. Rival crock pot about 2 years ago. I use it all the time (hence me bumping this thread again!) but have noticed from the beginning that is cooked REALLY REALLY fast. For instance, a recipe that I made last night was suppose to cook for 8-10 hours on low and it was DONE IN 3 HOURS!! Even my counter was getting hot. Well since I bought it so long ago I did not think that there was anything I could do about it (yes, if I had been smart I would have returned it but it didn't really "sink" in that something was not right for sometime) but I was telling my girlfriend and she said I should call Rival to see if there was a recall on this product. So I called yesterday and spoke to the nicest guy. He asked what was wrong, made sure that I had the setting on low (lol) and then told me that he was going to "hook me up"!!:lmao:

He is sending me a BRAND NEW 6.5 digital crock pot with saute feature built right in it! It also has a 50 page cook book. It is an $80 pot and he is sending it for FREE!!! I was shocked! I thanked him over and over and just kept laughing. All I called for was to see if it was recalled and he did this!!!

BTW...he told me that he could not tell if my model had been recalled but I could check it online. I have not had a chance since it was hot last night after cooking...need to check the model number underneath!

Are you serious? Good for you and it's good to see that customer service is not dead in this country. Rival must train them AND treat them good.

I have a crockpot (not sure if it's rival or not) that seems to also cook fast. It makes it tough to use because I would put something in before work, come home and it would be burnt on the bottom. So, dinner was ruined and I would have to cook!!! I will have to look into that. I never thought that there might be something wrong with it, just figured that it was the way it was.

I does sound weird, doesn't it? I used to think the same thing, but someone at work brought them in and they are delicious!!! I think she used BBQ sauce instead of ketchup though. Now I want to make some!!!!!!!!

Stole this one from the WFD thread too!!
Its great!

Cheesy Pizza Fondue

1 jar meatless spaghetti sauce
2 C. shredded Mozzarella cheese
1/4 C. shredded Parmesan cheese
2 tsp. Dried oregano
1 tsp. Dried, minced onion
1/4 tsp. Garlic powder
1 unsliced loaf Italian bread, cubed

In a 1 1/2 quart slow cooker, combine the spaghetti sauce, cheeses, oregano, onion and garlic powder. Cook for 4-6 hours or until cheese is melting and sauce is hot. Serve with bread cubes.

Anyone with a good Chicken and Dumpling Recipe for the crock pot? I've always just done it on the stove - its quite time consuming that way.

Thanks for the Recipes!! :thumbsup2

That fondue is one of mine, too! We love it!!! On NYE, we do fondue with our kids, and this is one of the best we've found!!!

There is a really good chicken and dumpling recipe on the WFD thread! I'll have to see if I can find it.

OK..you sold me. Going into fridge now to find my meatballs! I was wondering what would be better...BBQ or Ketchup???? Guess I will try BBQ...unless someone stops me within the next 10 minutes!

Look on your crockpot and call. You SHOULD be able to leave it on all day and not have it burn! That is why I thought mine was not right...literally would cook in 1/2 the time...I did not dare leave it on when I was out. As I mentioned even my counter top was getting HOT!!

It really is good! Instead of ketchup, I use chili sauce. Really a great appetizer!!!

I found the recipe for crock pot chicken and dumplings! Here ya go!

Crock Pot Chicken and Dumplings
2 chicken breasts - boneless skinless (can use thighs if you don't like breasts)
1 can cream of chicken soup
2 Tbsp. margarine
2 cans refrigerator biscuits
1 soup can of water

Put the chicken breasts in a crock pot, top with soup, margarine, and water. Cook on low 6-8 hours or on high 3-4 hours. Shred the chicken with 2 forks and stir. 45 minutes before serving (turn heat to High if cooking on Low), cut biscuits into small pieces and add to crock pot.

I'm not even going to respond to this - I'll let everyone else do it for me....they will tell you how delicious they are. :goodvibes :goodvibes

Here are a couple more of my favorite crock pot recipes.

Lemonade Chicken

6 boneless skinless chicken breast halves
3/4 C. lemonade concentrate
3 Tbs. ketchup
2 Tbs. brown sugar
1 Tbs. cider vinegar
2 Tbs. cornstarch
2 Tbs. cold water

Place chicken in a crock pot. Combine the lemonade, ketchup, brown sugar and vinegar; pour over chicken. Cover and cook on low for 3-5 hours or until chicken juices run clear. Remove chicken and keep warm. For gravy, combine cornstarch and water until smooth; stir into cooking juices. Cover and cook on high for 30 minutes or until thickened. Return chicken to crock pot; heat through.

Creamy Potatoes 'N' Kielbasa

1 pkg. frozen O'Brien hash brown potatoes
1 pound fully cooked kielbasa, cut into 1/4-inch pieces
1 can cream of mushroom soup, undiluted
1 C. shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 C. water

In a crock pot, combine all ingredients. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or until the potatoes are tender.

I am trusting you on this one...:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Which is better...BBQ or ketchup?

OK...edited to say THEY ARE IN THE POT!!!! I opted to use BBQ sauce (combined Swwet Baby Rays with Michael Jordon's Southwestern Chipolte) and I will post after they are done. I am sure they are going to be great...just sounds "off"! LOL

I use Sweet Baby's Rays - come back to us in a couple hours and let us know just how fab they are.

Please update!! I've been debating whether to use BBQ or ketchup.........

I make stuff for chicken burritos in the crock pot. Really simple, just a couple chicken breasts and a jar of Pace picante sauce on low all day. Then shred the chicken and put in burritos, put some cheese on top and bake about 20 minutes to melt the cheese.

I've been thinking of adding rice though. Should I add rice at the beginning and let it cook all day? Then should I add some water?? I usually add none. thanks!!

Well as I mentioned previously, my crock pot cooks VERY VERY fast and they are done. My verdict???

OMG....DELICIOUS!!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: This is going to be my new "appetizer" to bring to dinner dates!! :lmao:

BBQ sauce is VERY good and I would think that is makes it more like a sweet/spicy versus just sweet!!

Thanks!
