Ok we've had first night, but what do you all like to do on your first full day in orlando?

When we went in July 2000 on our first day we hit Animal Kingdom at opening - 8am - temp reached 105 I think - bad move.
This year in February we just chilled out - had a long lie in bed, got orientated, did some shopping and it felt so much more relaxing.
So think we'll just chill next summer too - get acclimatised to the tropical heat :sunny: , swim, shop, eat.......... then hit the parks on our second day - be more relaxed about it all

:D Well, we only ever have a week in Orlando as we like to travel down to the beach for the other two weeks.

Because of this, we are hitting Animal Kingdom our first day out this year because I know we'll all be up and raring to go nice and early. (Story behind this is first time we did AK when it had opened DMIL was with us . . . and it wasn't a good day and we hardly saw anything of the park, no animals, no safari, so we're going to be making up for it BIG time this year;)

The first year we went as a family we did the Virgin meet on our first morning at DTD . . . groan, I had drawn up such military precision plans that I actually started to panic that things were not going to plan:crazy: Silly, or what:rolleyes:

:D We ALWAYS do Magic Kingdom first morning:Pinkbounc . We dream about it for sooooo long that we'd go straight there when we get off the plane!

I just think MK is the most magical place in the world!!:Pinkbounc

Luv Audrey,
XXXXXXXXX:teeth:

We always go to Seaworld on the first day. It is a smaller park which makes it easier to get into the swing of things - using park maps, planning your day etc. We also go on Presidents weekend so all WDW parks are to be avoided like the plague until at least midweek when all the Americans go home.

Incidentally we also like to stop off at Seaworld to say 'Goodbye' on our way to the Airport home.

We always start with Animal Kingdom, as it doesn't take too long to get round the park and usually we're finished by mid-afternoon. We find, after the flight over the day before, we usually want an easy day on our first day at Disney! ;)

If we are in WDW first, we go to the Animal Kingdom - next visit we may go with the early entry park!

Don't forget that the days of Animal Kingdom opening early seem to be over. Current opening time is 9am, just like the other parks.

This is considerably different to AK's first year of operation, when it was open from 7am to 8pm. On our first visit to WDW we planned to go to AK on Day 1 to take advantage of us still being on a UK body clock, but due to a bit of a mix up with our alarm clock we actually woke up at 4.30am rather than the 6.30am we were planning on. It was only when we got to the AK carpark (at 5.15am) that we realised something was wrong! We still laugh about it to this day...

Regards

Rob

LOL Rob that's a classic - had something similar once when we went to the everglades.

I always like to do MK first - but I guess it really depends on what park is open early.

I couldn't wait a whole day to get to a park. I've done Universal before on my first day as well.

Love it, Rob:D :D

Last year we didn't do Orlando, but straight down to St Pete's beach for our holiday. The 'first morning' we were all wandering along the beach at 6am watching the sun come up - truly lovely:D The shock was the amount of other people doing the same - I don't think we'd get too many people at our beach here, other than fishers, at 6am;)

First day usually starts with watching cartoons @ 4.30am as DD's body clock says "I'm awake so you have to wake up too!" Followed by my reading every piece of printed material that Disney produces for its guests when they check in, not to mention the Information Channel on TV (The Zip A Dee Doo Dah Tip for Today! - I know them all!) Then we're first in line for breakfast then it's whatever park bus turns up first!

Compulsive planning? I wish!!!!!!!
