We will be arriving at our GV at SSR on Sunday October 7th with 2 other couples with no Children. We won't start our Park Hoppers until Monday Morning..so I was looking for creative Ideas on what you would do or have done on an evening without PI or Disney Quest as an option.

We would like a lil Disney pixie dust to get started and get in the mood...Idea's?

I was considering the Wishes cruise but the one with audio is booked..:(
.. maybe something at Boardwalk?
Polynesian beach and watch Wishes?
.awaiting your suggestions..

Or dinner at the California Grill and watching Wishes from the view point there.

Or seeing if you could get the boat to watch Illuminations at EPCOT.

Or going to see La Nouba at the Cirque.

Others?

We head to Downtown Disney to the huge Disney store there to see what kinds of things we want to buy to take home. AP's get you a 10% discount there. Also AAA membership or a Disney Visa card.

From there we go to check in to our villa. Then we have a nice quiet dinner at either Jiko's or California Grill. It's a wonderful way to start our vacation!

There are many choices. But of all the choices I know, I would choose "La Nouba" in Downtown Disney.

I could go on and on about "La Nouba," but I'll just say I think it is a better production than Cirque's trademark production of "O" in Vegas.

drinks on the second floor of the Poly by the windows during Wishes-music and view. My children love getting their sodas with a little umbrella.

Cirque's La Nouba is a great addition to the list. Here are a few that we will be doing on our next trip:

* Parasailing over WDW at Sammy Duvall's (You can ski and rent all types of boats too.)
* Miniture Golf
* Waterparks
* If you are there before 8:30 and all are over 18 then the Backstage Magic Tour (No ticket required.)
* Take a cruise or rent a boat (There are many more than the fireworks ones.)
* Go horseback riding at Fort Wilderness (There is a campfire later in the evening too.)

It's late and I will probably think of more later.

Depending on your arrival time, we like to do mini golf at Fantasia Gardens and then maybe head to DTD for shopping. The Cirque suggestion is a GREAT one too. It may end up being the highlight of your trip!

No shortage of suggestions! Thank you very much.

I especially liked the one about the Poly..(being its free no doubt:cheer2: )

Do they pipe the music in there?

Or are there other places they have audio for fireworks?

___________

-someone esle suggested a Karaoke bar near Boardwalk?
- Or Jellyrolls?

Thanks for the suggestions again!

Jeff

Winter/Summerland mini-golf outside of Blizzard Beach is Disney magical to the 10th degree - and you get various dicounts for DVC/AP.

We played Winterland last trip on a non-park day and DS11 says trying Summerland is the single thing he is most looking forward to on our next trip.

Okay - and, if you have kids - there's a marshamallow roasting/campfire/sing-along with Chip and Dale and a huge outdoor movie every night at Fort Wilderness - and it's free.

I thought it was two childless couples????

I am running thru the same dilemma (except I have a 17mon old)

here are a few ideas I have come up with

Ask AKL about their guided tours of African artwork, try to view animals on the savannah
have dinner at Boma or Jiko's

SeaRaycers (watermice) at DTD

Carriage Ride at SSR followed by dinner at Artists Point

Take the ferry up to OKW, or from DTD PO for any of the activities or resturants they offer.

Its your first arrival day and I dont know how long you have been traveling or what time you got up that morning, but you may want to choose activities that will allow time for unpacking and going to bed early-ish.

Rent a Disney Movie from SSR

I forget what time you are arriving, but I know on Sundays Disney's Nature Perserve has "buggy rides" that last a couple hours and Unofficial Guide says it can be the highlight of the trip. Sunday is the only day you can do the ride.

Why You Should Visit
The Nature Conservancy's Disney Wilderness Preserve is a remarkable place for nature lovers of all ages and interests. The preserve is home to hundreds of wildlife species and is bordered by one of the last remaining undeveloped lakes in central Florida.

A 3-mile hiking trail and Sunday buggy tour are available to visitors who want to learn about the preserve’s resident plants and animals and the Conservancy’s efforts to restore and protect them.

Would you want ot do a different ticketed venue, like Universal, or SeaWorld? These might be too much for "arrival day" though.

Downtown Disney (without PI or Disneyquest) is a great option. I'm not a shopper AT ALL and enjoy just hanging out, doing some browsing, etc. Cirque is a fun night, too.

The Boardwalk is a nice option, as well. Maybe Dinner at the Yachtman's Steakhouse, followed by a nice stroll down the boardwalk...you can even see much of illuminations from there.

The Raglan Pub (or something like that) is a really nice option. They have an Irish band playing and a young lady comes on about 3 times an hour and dances (proper Irish dancing). It is a fun atmostphere and there is no cover charge.

Get a pint and enjoy the place.

Enjoy your trip!

We usually have dinner the first evening at Boma. Gives us a chance to start with a leisurely meal, check out AKL, view some animals, talk to the guides, look at artwork. AKL has a great collection of African artwork.

We usually feel that the first night is our only sensible chance to have that meal as grazing thru the Food & Wine Fest the rest of the trip pretty much ruins us for a regular dinner.

My vote would be to the Poly, watch Wishes from the beach, then stay there and watch the Electric Water Pageant from the beach. There are nice beach chairs, it's comfy. After that you could go to DTD for drinks, or right into the Poly for drinks.

My 2nd vote would be La Nouba.

My 3rd vote would be Raglan Road and shopping at DTD.

My 4th vote would be drinks at the WL, then go to the beach and watch the Electric Water Pageant.

I forgot the "Monorail Resorts Tour". You get on the monrail and ride to all 3 resorts...shopping, dining, drinking....

Another vote for La Nouba-or dinner at the Flying Fish-food is wonderful and then a stroll on the Boardwalk. Enjoy!
