My mom and her friend are doing a craft fair next month. My mom asked if I wanted to put anything in the mix. I thought I'd send three sets of tutus/wings/tiaras (I made the tutus and wings), some of the bows I've made and a few little gift baskets I have. They're good stress relievers to make, so I just priced for supplies and about $5 for time. I'd rather take home a little less than take home nothing because I priced too high.

Is there anything you particularly like to buy at craft fairs? And how much do you spend on that/those item/s?

Hair bows if nicely made...won't pay more than $6 for a pair no matter how "fancy"
Doll clothes for American Girl sized dolls or barbie dolls, no more than $20 for complete outfit for AG and more like under $10 for barbie
Unique home decoration type items, usually associated with Halloween or Christmas, prices vary
Used to look for unique baby bibs but no longer a need here.

good luck! i know a lot of people look for unique teachers gifts too.

I always come home with wonderfully scented hand made soaps and candles. Soup mixes are something I enjoy trying. Homemade style salsa. The Amish always have homemade egg noodles and cookies and bread and pie to die for :lovestruc here in Tulsa

I also like finding cute clothes for American Girl dolls.

Tinkertude- Have you ever gone to the Amish auction that is held in Coweta (near Ada)? The homemade ice cream is unbelievable! I love their food items, but unfortunately waited until too late in the day to buy them this year.

I've seen some OUTRAGEOUSLY priced bows! I sew mine (started out with hot glue, but my niece is too rough and tumble ), but I've seen glued ones priced much higher than I would pay.

Mmmm, sounds yummy!

I have a boy, so I am definitely out of the loop on most of the girly things that don't have a tutorial on the DIS. Haha!

And hi Okies! I'll have to find some Amish goodies. I've never seen them around central OK.

ttrchx, actually Coweta is out side of
Tulsa. And to answer your question no I have never been to the auction. What time of year is it?? Sounds fun and I am always game for Ice Cream!:woohoo: The Amish community around here is Cheotouh, could that possibly be the location?? They make lovely shaker still furniture there, too

I like to buy specialty foods for gifts - dips mixes, sauces, etc. There is one show I go to to buy gourmet dog cookies for gifts for the family members who are dogs. I like to support local artisans but ususally buy for gift giving.

DH sells speciality foods both online and at shows. He is at one this weekend - hopefully doing well! He sells salad dressings, hot sauces, salsas, specialty veggies, bbq, and olives. He says a lot of people are buying for gift giving and for parties.

Not sure if I can post his website so pm me if you would like to see what he is doing.

I am going to one next week and I'm looking for those glass bricks with lights in them, are decorated for the holiday's. My friend has a beautiful one and she got it at one years ago so I'm hoping the woman still goes and makes them :goodvibes
I also love to look at handmade jewelry :lovestruc

I was a craft fair just yesterday morning! A good one.I bought a lot! (not good for the budget but good for the crafters)

I bought myself a pair of earrings they were Larimar- so pretty pale blue from the Domincan Republic (and I don't know if he was blowing smoke up my you know what but he was saying it was all mined out at this point- so no more Larimar after what's out there sells?) But I didn't care about that I just really liked the color of that particular stone.

I also bought a $30 Scarf for DD*it was with those new bean shaped pompoms so cute! and great color

I also paid $20 for a pair of socks- crazy- but she also loves these socks- mismatched but kind of blendy.

A yankee stadium statue thing

And FOOD products- Maple Syrup(gosh I paid a lot for that I think but it's so much better than anything I can buy in the store)
I bought some soup mixes *like those in the pantry.
And hmm oh yes a cutney and some Wasabi sauce.

So all in all I think I blew around $200. Not terrible and I got a couple gifts.

For the wings and tutus I would think $20 would be a good price or even $25.

Hair bows- When dd was little if they were super cute (and pre the internet where now I can make my own) I would have paid $10 a bow.

Good luck. I suppose I pay more than most for things at a craft fair but I just love to craft and want to support those that do it too!

My gramma LOVES Larimar!! She has en entire wardrobe of it. About six bracelets, three necklaces and two pairs of earrings (and some pendants she doesn't have on chains yet). She's pretty good friends with some people who sell it, and they've said the same thing (that it's getting harder to find).

The food mixes, dips, spices, syrups etc. We go to a huge fair here in Dec each year and those vendors are the ones we buy from year after year. The friend I go with is big on the jewelery too.

I look at the hairbows. I buy the clay ornaments that can be personalized, I like the dips/sauces, football themed stuff is big here (you can't use trademarked things, but you can use team colors), I bought a checkbook cover (made with letters/patterns in a plastic casing), I got a cute embellished clipboard (she put laser cut initials and dots, then tied a ribbon on it $15), One lady had chocolate covered sprinkled rice krispie treats, purses & scarfs & cute little hats with pom poms on them, one girl had buckets that were decorated with the laser cut initials and dots, and my favorite vender makes "bag tags", they're bits of cloth/fabric with initials or sayings, hard laminated with a grommet, some have ribbon & are book marks or bag tags and some have keychains, with a tie of ribbon to fancy it up. I have a link to her site if you want to pm me

Hi fellow Okies! The Amish has a store just north of Muskogee too. Oh Gosh, they make the best cashew brittle and red pepper jelly.:worship:

I used to go to a craft fair during the Wellston, OK Christmas Parade. A lady there made those kitchen towels that you hand on the frig, or handle of your kitchen cabinets. Believe it or not, she sold those for $1.50 each. I'd stock up and buy nearly all she had. Everybody loved those as Christmas gifts, and gifts around the year. This lady has passed on and I really miss her, and those towels!
