What do YOU know about the Poly?

My family of 5 is thinking of staying at the Polynesian. I would love some information about it. Would it be comfortable for 3 adults and two kids (5 and 10)?

What about the bathroom...is the vanity area separate from the shower and stool? How many sinks are there?

I have heard that there are balconies...are they big enough for 3 adults to sit comfortably. (I guess I'm thinking put the kids to bed and we could sit outside and talk until we are ready for bed)

Also I would like some opinions on whether or concierge is worth it or not.

We were just in the same problem. The rooms at the Poly are nice and it's also nice to get to ride the monorail. BUT!!!!!!! I would have to say that the balconies are rather thin. And there is only a little day bed for someone to sleep on. For the same price, you can get a junior suite at the WL. They hold 6 with a bed room with two beds and a fold out couch in the livingroom. We stayed in one last year and we loved the extra room to get away from sleeping younguns. They also have a little fridge, microwave and a coffee maker. And two balconies. One off the bedroom and one off the livingroom. The balconies are the same size at the the resorts as far as I have seen. If you are set on the Poly, I would request the first floor.

If you ask around, people who like the WL, LOVE it. Can I get a show of hands?

The sinks at the Polynesian are NOT separate from the tub and toilet which is one of the only things I don't like about the Polynesian. It makes it harder to get ready, even when it was just DH and myself, so I can't imagine how it would be for 3 adults and 2 kids.

If you're set on a monorail resort, the GF and Contemporary both have vanity areas separate from the tub area and I think the balconies at the Contemporary are pretty big. The GF balconies would comfortably fit 3 adults, but be careful if your room faces the marina. Ours did and our balcony had lots of bird droppings on it. So needless to say, we did not use it a whole lot. But when we stayed at the GF for our honeymoon and had a lagoon view room, it was great! We did use the balcony every night.

I think that the Poly would be fine for 3 adults and 2 children. Our family of 5 stayed there last year with no problems(2adults, 17yo ds, 9yo dd and 2 1/2yo dd) We did have a 1st floor room with a patio but we have stayed there before and had a balconey and thought that it is big enough for 3 people to sit out on. The daybed is a twin size bed. My ds slept on it with no problem and even my husband dozed off on it 1 day and said it was quite comfy.(he's over 6ft) I think the relaxing feel of the Poly adds to the vacation for us. After a busy day at the parks, it is nice to have a relaxing resort to spend some time in. The rooms at the Poly are one of the biggest on property. Some of the rooms have 2 sinks and although they are not separate, we never had any problem getting ready for the day. We had 1 adult and the 2 younger kids get ready and go for coffee while the other 2 people got ready. The POLY is a wonderful resort- great for families (Ohana's, hula lessons, new volcano pool, neverland child care, etc....) and very convenient with small children because the monorail allows you access to the MK and EPCOT within minutes.

Also, you can visit the GF and CR for dinner/breakfast/shopping with very little inconvenience (5 minute monorail ride). If you stay at the WL - you have to take the bus everywhere you go. Remember to take into consideration what conveniences are more important to you and you'll make the right decision. Goodl luck and happy vacationiong! Renee

Not all rooms at the Poly have balconies or patios.

Second floor rooms at the Poly do not have Baclonies. First Floor are patios and third floor have Balconies.
