When you bring food in your room for an easy meal or a snack, What do you keep it in, a box, a paper bag, a duffle bag??? I ask because we are saying at more than one hotel and I kinda feel funny bringing in a BIG rubbermaid container, or should I not feel funny??? What do you bring it in?

I will be bringing cereal, mac and cheese, rice, (we have a hot pot and a g. f. grill) bread, snacks, cookies, etc.. Also, I never thought of it before but do I need to worry about bugs??

I'm going to bring a rubbermaid container to Riverside. I've all ready got it packed full of snacks. I figure a lot of people do the same and the container is really handy.

Disnee Dad Says.............................Pack it any way you want, and don't worry about it. All our dry goods are in a suitcase, and anything that needs to be chilled is in a cooler. Dry goods go in a drawer somewhere. Never had a problem with bugs, on any trip anywhere, in fifteen years. Ten years of hot pot and two years of G F Grill, never a problem anywhere.

We bring down a couple large ziplock bags and stop at the grocery store when we are down there. We buy a large styrofoam cooler and fill up the bags with ice from the hotel ice machine. Every morning we dump out the bags and refill with more ice. Works like a charm every year!!!

We've taken our snacks lots of ways... dry goods in suitcase, other stuff in mini-coolers etc. I don't think anyone in the hotel industry even notices anymore. Everyone does it!
And we have never had any pest problems.

2 years ago (when we drove down) - we had our plug-in Igloo cooler with us in the car.. then just plugged it in the room. We checked with the hotel upon arrival, and they said no problem plugging it in the room during our entire trip. (Otherwise we could have just used ice once in it).

We did the Rubbermaid container once, but I found handling it too awkward. I usually use two shopping bags with handles -- it's easy for us to get them into the resort, and they are useful for taking extra items home in. If you're driving and plan to do laundry, a laundry basket can also be pretty useful. I did that last year but forgot about it this year.

We had our stuff in a cardboard box! I was going to go out later in the evening (after dark) and bring it in, but when the luggage guy (do they still call them “bell hops?”) came out with the cart to help bring in the luggage he grabbed it and put it on the cart with the other stuff and didn’t bat an eye.

PS- I had a bra back there with the luggage, had just tossed it in the back of the car. When the luggage guy lifted a suitcase out of the van, the bra got caught on something, then let loose and flung through the parking lot! He went and retrieved it and again, he did not bat an eye!

Pack your food in a suitcase - then when it's empty, use it to pack your purchases from WDW. Also try a plastic shoe/sweater holder that hangs in the closet. It can be purchased anywhere and collapses down to fit in your suitcase. It gives you a place to stor your food - sort of a portable pantry.

I shipped a good sized cardboard box to my resort ahead of time. The box was filled with non-perishable food (cheese/peanut butter & crackers, aeorsol cheese, cookies, candy, juice boxes, raisins, dried fruit, breakfast cereal, granola bars, pouches of tuna, etc), also packed a small knife, plastic untensils, ziploc bags and there was extra room, so I lightened the load in my suitcase by including sunscreen, ponchos and other odds and ends that fit in the box. When I checked into Riverside, they had a notation on my file that there was a package for me in the back, they offered to bring it out to me or have bell services deliver it to the room. On the way to the resort, stopped at the grocery store and bought milk, jucie, cheese, deli meat, pocket bread, yogurt and fruit. I brought along a collapsable coolet, loaded it with ziplocs filled with ice and kept the cooler with the food that needed to be chilled in the corner near the sinks. Kept the nonperishables in the shipping box by the table. Worked out great.

THAT IS TOO FUNNY!!!!

We have always filled in spaces in our suitcases (along with one whole extra suitcase) with our non-perishables, plastic ware, bowls/plates etc. that we are bringing from home. It gives us extra room for purchases on the way home! Once at WDW, we too purchase a large stryofoam cooler (for just a couple bucks) and use the ziploc-ice-bag method to keep things cool. For extra insulation, we wrap a towel or two around the cooler...it definitely helps to keep the cooler cooler (does that make sense?!? ;) )

We've never felt awkward walking thru the hotel with grocery bags or a carton of milk after a trip to Publix....I think it's so common that most people don't even notice it at all!

Oh...and we've never once seen a bug either!

I used to feel awkward about my bags of food. And then one day I stopped and watched the bellmen at the YC/BC. They were unloading cars with 10 bags of groceries and not even blinking. I figured that while it might look a little strange and some city hotels it is the accepted practice at Disney!

We use a tote. I also keep all of my toiletries and park essentials in the tote.

When we drive down, we always have a small ice chest (the kind on wheels) that we have softdrinks and juice in. For our snacks, I always use one of the big shopping bags with the handle at the top (like you get from Old Navy or Dillards). Its very easy to carry in and out. We bring mostly breakfast items and snacks. Never had a problem.

This summer we went to Nashville (yes, I know its NOT Disney, but tell that to my teenager who just had to go to Fanfair to meet the Country singers) - anyway, we stayed at the Hilton Suites and they brought up our ice chest/snack bag with no problems.

I like being able to bring my own breakfast - its much faster and cheaper when you're trying to get five people ready in the morning. Before we leave, I let each of the kids pick what she wants to bring for breakfast. One of my daughters actually picked chocolate covered rice krispy bars for breakfast - and its OK to have that for breakfast when you're at Disney. My kids don't really eat much when they first wake up - so with breakfast bars, they can just bring it to the park with them.
