What do you have for breakfast?

Mmmm...yummy thread! Only about 9 hours till breakfast... I will be having a bagel (whole wheat sesame) with cream cheese and smoked salmon. But I eat all kinds of things: eggs, toast, cereal, fruit, pancakes, cream of wheat with jam mixed in, muffins, and the list goes on.

I am big on breakfast. In fact, technically, I eat two breakfasts a day because I like to keep most of my calories to early so I am not hungry and have no appetite for junky food.

Most mornings I make a veggie omelet out of eggbeaters (mushrooms, onions, peppers, broccoli, or spinach, or a combo thereof), one slice of whole grain toast with a little butter and honey, and tea. Mid-morning I have a bowl of cereal with skim milk or yogurt and fruit or maybe a home baked bran muffin. If I want to change it up, I make oatmeal with raisins and apple sauce, or fruit topped French toast made with whole grain bread.

Here is a favorite muffin recipe for you to try. http://www.3fatchicks.com/diet-recipes/apple-bran-muffins/

Are you Me???? I eat peanut butter and cheese together all the time and people think I'm certifiable. Heck I put pickels on it sometimes, which I do admit is strange but love PB&C on whole wheat or whole grain bread.

OMG I think I am you!! Pickles are my other addition, but I didn't admit that because I didn't want to gross anyone else out! I LOOOOOVE PB & C sandwiches with pickle slices in it. SOOOOO good.

MMMMM - I can't wait for bfast this morning!!! So glad I found someone else with my unique tastes :thumbsup2

I usually have cereal or instant oatmeal. I am getting bored with my breakfast choices too. I am not a huge fan of eggs, frozen waffles are ok but there isn't anything nutritional in them. :lmao:.

OP here! Thanks everyone for the responses. Its nice to see there are a few other's out there who are in the same rut as me. Breakfast is suppose to be the most important meal of the day... I just dont understand why the choices are so limited:confused3

I'm going to try the steelcut oats and egg beaters ideas this weekend. I love dried cranberries. Thanks everyone... keep posting your breakfast foods!

1/2 C (dry) Plain oatmeal (I add my own flavorings) every morning. I usually add a tsp. of brown sugar. Sometimes almonds, walnuts, coconut, banana, raisins, craisins...I choose different toppings to change it up a bit.

I may seem boring but it is the ONE breakfast food (for me) that easily keeps me full through the morning.

The new Bagel Thins are awesome. I have the 'everything' bagel thin now, and I love them! I make a sandwich with an egg white, canadian bacon, and 1/2 pc of cheese. Yummy!

Greek yogurt, a bagel thin with ff cream cheese and turkey, oats, or an egg with salsa.

But it doesn't have to be. There is no rule that you can't have other kinds of foods at breakfast.

Now, I do often eat a banana with some peanut butter on it. (I'll substitute Nutella for an occassional treat.) However, I have also been known to make a ham (or turkey) and spinach sandwhich on whole grain toast. Sometimes I leave out the toast and lay the ham flat add spinch leaves a little cheese and almonds and a dash of balsamic and roll the whole thing up like a pinwheel.

What I'm trying to say is that you don't need to limit yourself to "breakfast" foods. Same thing goes for dinner. We have actually starting having a breakfast for dinner night each week. My kids love it and it is great for those nights when other activities keep you from home until later because it is a quick meal to prepare.

Holy cow, I never thought I'd find anyone who liked that combination. :rotfl:

Just goes to show you. I almost made PB&C w Pickles for lunch but I was out of milk so I brought soup. Glad to know there's at least two of us.

I make an eggbeaters omelet - with broccoli, ham and cheese almost every day - I am diabetic and need to avoid carbs - so I avoid fruit, juices, and cereal...

This morning I tried my own egg mcmuffin. Whole wheat english muffin, egg beater, morningstar farms veggie sausage patty. Very yummy!

Breakfast is difficult for me. I don't like to eat in the mornings and sometimes have a reaction to eggs (nausea). Usually I just take a banana to work and eat it about 9:00 so I don't keel over before lunch.

On Sundays DH will sometimes make Belgian waffles and turkey sausages (with real VT maple syrup of course). If there's leftover pizza in the house, I will chow that down!

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day!

Three days a week I have to be up at 5AM, so those days I usually have cereal or a Pop Tart because we get fed breakfast at work :cool1:

But the other days I make big breakfasts! Some of the ones I try:

-The steel cut oatmeal PPs mentioned with brown sugar, honey, cinnamon and almonds

-French toast with peanut butter and sliced bananas

-Pancakes with nutella and strawberries

-Homemade cinnamon rolls with cream cheese frosting

-Poached eggs on toasted sourdough bread with artichoke spread and arugula

-Egg white omelet with spinach leaves, tomatoes, onions and feta cheese

I know you said you were trying to be healthy and not all of these are...especially the cream cheese frosting LOL! But there is so much you can do for breakfast! These meals keep me full for hours (I usually just have a small meal for lunch like a salad or a bowl of soup) and most of them are full of protein so they give me energy!

Same for me every day...raisin bran with skim milk, and grapefruit juice.

For the occasional times that I eat out, it is usually scrambled eggs and bacon, an omelette, or more recently, pancakes!

I was about to post a thread similar to this but then found this one in the search. I thought I would bump this up and see if there are any more ideas?

I am looking to start eating breakfast because of right now, I don't. My kids always have one of these 4 things.
1 - homemade whole wheat blueberry pancakes (no syrup)
2 - eggs & cheese with fruit on the side
3 - plain oatmeal and then we add fruit and applesauce in it
4 - plain organic yogurt and fruit.

None of these things appeal to me so with my new goal to start eating it, I made a list. These were things I thought of and then I came here and saw this thread so I added a few of those things to the list as well. I just thought I'd post it in case it helps someone else. I welcome more ideas, too! The more the better as I get bored easily with the same choices.

BREAKFAST IDEAS:
- Muffins (blueberry, strawberry, banana, bran, pumpkin)
- Eggs (plain or with cheese, scrambled or fried)
- "Egg in a nest"
- Cheese Grits

This morning I had my version of an egg mcmuffin. I used the light wheat english muffins (8 grams of fiber), one poached egg, cheese and 1 slice canadian bacon. My version is 235 calories. Breakfast is the hardest for me. I have lost 34 lbs since March 1st by exercising and watching my calories. I "understand" that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but I hate giving up too many calories so early in the day. When I am heading to the gym to run, I do not like to have much on my stomach so I will just grab a breakfast bar of some sort. I do better controlling what I eat by being consistent. I will eat the same thing several days in a row because it is easy.

Fiber cereal with a banana in it with skim milk.

The new Bagel Thins are awesome. I have the 'everything' bagel thin now, and I love them! I make a sandwich with an egg white, canadian bacon, and 1/2 pc of cheese. Yummy!

Love the bagel thins too, breakfast is either egg, cheese and some sort of breakfast meat usually center cut bacon or canadian bacon on bagel thin or almond butter or peanut butter on toasted bagel thin with a banana .

Lunch is turkey and smear of garlic cream cheese.
