As a lot of you already know and you can tell by reading my countdown timer, my trip is coming up really soon. I wanted to ask some of the others out here if they have cancelled trips due to the storms in Fl or if they have cancelled because of such an active hurricane season this year. What I am getting at is I am beginning to wonder if all the bad weather has caused the parks to have low attendance lately and if anyone has cancelled or experienced this due to recent bad weather in Fl. If anyone can tell me their thoughts and or experiences or opinions on this it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Kim

I haven't cancelled. However, I'm here now. Just got here today to be exact. Anyhow, I found MCO to be very crowded w/ incoming people. Our flight alone, was almost a sell out-- which I've never been on coming from our area.

We had a decent little wait for lunch at Beaches and Cream today-- which suprised me because I figured it would be really quiet. We are hitting our first park tomorrow. So, I guess I'll get a real taste of the crowds then. I told DH (who commented I thought this was low season when we were seeing lots of people at the Beach Club), I'm wondering if many people are rescheduled for this week. From Jeanne last week and the threat of Ivan the week before.

If you're thinking of cancelling because of the perception that "Floridians don't need us tourists getting in the way right now", then dismiss the notion immediately. The Florida economy relies heavily on tourism dollars, and WDW is ready, willing and able to accommodate guests at this point.

If you're worried about future storms, all I would do is remind you that the weather experienced in the last 30-45 days is completely unprecidented. Many people have been forced to cancel trips. Disney has certainly lost MILLIONS of dollars due to the weather. And, overall park attendance is likely down compared to other years.

If you cancel your trip out of fear of possible future storms, you'll almost certainly regret it when the days come and go without incident.

Just my $.02...

I'm not cancelling - wouldn't even think about it.

I think she may be wondering the same thing I'm wondering. We're definitely going - lived through Ivan, and I'm ready to get out of here!! - but I'm just curious (hopeful) that crowds might be lower because people don't want to go right now.

Im going to be there at the same time as you are going to be and we are not cancelling. We are counting down the days!!!! We are also praying for good weather! Have a great trip!:wave2:

We are going through with our plans. A big angry man with a large pointy stick couldn't keep me away at this point.

It sounds to me like the opposite is happening. People aren't staying away because of the storm... instead you have even bigger crowds than usual because they had to reschedule. I wonder how long the surge will last?

kbkids------is your house ok? I was thinking about you during the strorm. We had some roof damage and lost some tree's. but we are so blessed and thankful for not more.
I rescheduled our trip from Ivan week to Nov. 16-22.
kbkids, have a awesome magical trip, I know what you have gone through and you deserve it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1:earsgirl:

Hey Rozzie!! Our house did fine - lost our back fence (no big deal!) and we lost some shingles. But, a tree fell on Mom's house, so we've been busy getting that repaired. We didn't think it looked that bad at first, but once the tree was removed, we saw that some of the trusses were broken. But we're all safe and sound, and yes, we too feel very blessed and thankful.

My friend's parents and her in-laws lived on Blackwater Bay - HUGE houses - they lost everything (literally) - they didn't feel like anything would happen, so they took nothing with them. I can't imagine - we left, and I had every picture ever taken of my kids and all of their crafts and special things in the back of the van. I would have been upset if anything happened to our home, but I would have died if I lost those memories!

We are leaving in one week. I really thought that the locals and instaters probably would not be out in full force due to the weather, and I still think that way, but I do know that when we go next week through the extended columbus day weekend that the WL where is completly booked up, and I know from what I've read on the boards that this isn't the only resort, so we'll all see together won't we.

My 8 yr old dd asked me at dinner last night "mommy, if there is another hurricane, will we still be able to go to Disney" and my answer was "honey, unless the airport is closed, we are going!!!". I also said, we have a 2 bedroom villa, with 3 TVs, whirlpool and full kitchen, so if we have to hunker down we'll be plenty comfy. Of course I am hoping they are done now, but I wouldn't cancel for anything!

Kbkids, you hit the nail right on the head, I am from Pensacola too and after just getting over Ivan wild horses couldn't drag me away from going to WDW, and believe me now, I am really needing this vacation, I was just wondering if anyone out there had noticed a decline in visitors due to the storms, I was actually hoping someone would have said yes because it sure would be nice to go and it not be too crowded, but even if they have millions of people I am still going to pile right in there with them for a much needed week of vacation at a much more leisurely pace! Hope everyone on the dis from the gulf coast survived Ivan and are doing well. Any more thoughts and opinions are welcomed.
Kim

Hey, I think my counter says the same thing Minniefan's and elgerber's does! Yep we are going if the airport is open and just keeping our fingers crossed. I am also wondering about the crowd patterns and how they have been affected by all of this and what the story will be in two weeks.
