what do you get if you get someone to join

My aunt is seriously thinking of joining DVC, if she does what do I get for referring her? I thought someone said a merchandise gift certificate does that sound right? Any info would help. Thanks!

There are 4 or 5 things to choose from including credit on your dues, park hoppers, Disney Dollars, an American Express merchandise certificate, and one or two others that I can't remember right now. We took the $ 200 Disney Dollars to use for our trip next month. We were hoping to get another couple as a 2nd referral and get $350 more. The 2nd and 3rd are worth more if done within 1 yr.

There are many states which won't allow DVC to offer any "reward" for a referral. If your's does, DVC will provide the info. If not- you'll get a nice "Thankyou" letter. Here in Indiana, we get nice "Thankyou" letters. I have a stack of them..and they are very nice!

Nothing in Texas. But that doesn't stop me from telling others about it. My MBA BIL recently went to WDW with us and was very impressed with DVC and plans to join in the future. He thought it was a great deal.

We just get the "thank you " letters here in Minnesota too.

I have not got anything, yet. I keep refering folks though, and our guide sends us a letter of thanks. (5 so far) One of these days, one or two of them will buy. I'm sure of it.

We redeemed our 2nd "Share the Magic" certificate for 2001 in November.

I think our options were $350 Disney Dollars, a $350 credit towards the purchase of an add-on or towards annual dues, or the option to donate to a Children's Charity (Make a Wish? ... or something similar).

I don't remember anything about park hoppers - but, I probably wouldn't have paid attention to that, as we already have SP's.

Here in Pa, we get one of those wonderful "thank you" letters.
And some very happy friends that are now DVC members.

In Ohio, you get a "thank you" letter. Thats it.

We had friends that purchased at WLV in June, and were notified that we would be getting a certificate. I had totally forgotten about it until I saw this thread! I just emailed Member Services amd we'll see what they have to say. I knew it would take a long time, but it's been six months.

Six months is a long time. I would call and speak with your rep. They can actually ask you your choice over the phone. We did this last year when we lost our letter and we had the Disney Dollars in our hands in just a couple of days. Anyone that refers someone is just sent a nice letter. If they buy you are sent a rewards letter after the closing, if you live in a state that can participate. Half the states in the US can not participate and all they get is a nice letter.

I think the states should stay out of it!!! Especially since we have some friends and family who are watching us go to WDW all the time and are very interested in how we accomplish that!

This is a result of our lawmakers enacting laws to protect us from ourselves.

Wouldn't it be nice if DVC would give something for referrals to people in states that forbid it when the member is back "home?" They could treat to dinner or something like that in FL and our home states would not be the wiser.
