What do you get for referring a friend or family?

The rewards are structured in a tier, where the first person you refer who buys gets you $200, the second a bit more and so forth, up to the fifth giving you $1000. :woohoo:

Yes, it's only available when purchasing direct from Disney, and whether or not you actually receive any money will depend on the state you live in. Some states do not permit residents to be given compensation for timeshare referrals.

It also takes an extremely long time to receieve your reward, so don't plan on getting it within a month or two I am still waiting on mine and I referred someone back in May!!!!!

Just remember you only get 5 per year.

"A Member will begin with a Level One Reward for his/her first Introduced Guest each calendar year and will be issued a maximum of 5 Rewards for Introduced Guests made in a single calendar year."

And it starts at $200 for the first referral....

Can redeem for disney giftcard, or it can go to annual dues, or can get a prepaid visa card, or it can go towards a purchase of more points...

All dependent on what state you're in.

Michigan is one of those states. Anyone know of any others?

I live in NY and so does my referral friend....will she get the compensation?

Here's the link to the member's website regarding "Sharing the Magic Program" http://dvc.disney.go.com/dvc/member/justForMembers/memberReferral/index?name=TermsAndConditionsPage

The MS site lists the eligible jurisdictions.

"Eligible Jurisdiction" is any jurisdiction that permits rewarding Members for their participation in the Program. Current Eligible Jurisdictions are: Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. DVD reserves the right to add or remove Eligible Jurisdictions as business and legal circumstances allow.
.

Then there are more restrictions for a few states:

Members in Arizona, Connecticut, Illinois, Ohio, and New Jersey: Due to jurisdiction regulations, Members who reside in Arizona may only redeem Rewards from this Program, or any other similar program offered by DVD, with a maximum yearly payout of $600 during a calendar year. Due to jurisdiction regulations, Members who reside in Illinois and Ohio may only redeem Rewards from this Program, or any other similar program offered by DVD, with a maximum yearly payout of $1,000 during a calendar year. For Introducing Members who reside in New Jersey, the total number of potential Introduced Guests under this Program, or any other similar program offered by DVD, is limited to 12 total Introduced Guests per calendar year. Certain Rewards are not available in New Jersey and Connecticut due to applicable jurisdiction law. Other Rewards available to Introducing Members also may be limited by applicable jurisdiction law.

As you can see I live in Texas one of the states that is not listed and is not eligible. :sad2:

Just wondering what you get for referring someone and they purchase a DVC contract?

If you refer someone to purchase at The Timeshare Store, Inc.® you will get the feeling of knowing that you helped someone close to you save some money. Some say that is a priceless feeling. :thumbsup2

Good point, Jason. My chiropractor has been looking at DVC for awhile, and even used some of my points for a stay at SSR in early October. He didn't know about resale and Disney said they'd sell him 320 points and give him another 320 points. I printed out some resale listings and showed him how much less he would have to pay buying resale for the same amount of points, and explained about loaded versus stripped contracts. Needless to say, he's looking closely at resales now, as well as buying smaller contracts instead of one big one. He seemed very grateful for the information.

Bev,

It is great to hear these type of stories. Most sellers are selling out of some sort of necessity (divorce, death, need the cash) and when someone buys their property not only getting a good deal (in my opinion) but helping out a current owner.
