What do you experts think?

We will be the Orlando area from June 19th-24th. We have bought the $85 tickets and also have left over park hoppers for Disney. This is a road trip from VA, but we are heading to the Ft Lauderdale area first to visit my parents. Anyways, we normally leave Ft Lauderdale area around 8 or 9am. I prefer early but with 3 kids,not always feasable. Anyways, when we get to the Hotel we normally never go to the Disney park that day as not to waste a ticket. BUT.. I now have the 7 day Universal ticket. Ive been to to Disney and Universal more times then I can count, so I am no newbie at it
If we arrived at Universal around noon or 1pm would it be crazy there? I mean would we be wasting time waiting in line the rest of the day. Since we will not be there first thing in the morning that first day, which park first?
Although I love the original Universal Studio side I would love to start there, my kids really want to to go the IOA side... which lines would be shorter, or would they be all the same?
is it crazy going at noon or 1pm in mid June? I figured even if we just walked around, looked at the shops its a good way to kill a few hours before checking into the hotel..

I would go...grab a bite to eat, shop, see a show...check out the lines. Mid week lines are less than weekend. Are you staying onsite? If you have the 7 day ticket, and are not staying at UO the entire 7 days (you're going to Disney right?), I'd say go ahead and use the day on the ticket....it's going to expire anyhow..... JMHO

No, we are not staying onsite at Universal or Disney. We are staying in the Lake Buena vista area. Thats why we got the 7 day ticket. I mean even if we just use one day and spend a couple of hours there,no real waste.
Normally the kids go crazy our first day in Orlando as we never go to a park that day as not to waste days. And, then the first day seems so incredibley long with them LOL...At least this day, we will have something to do each and every day. YIPPEE

if you are going to be in florida only 6 days, i say stop and do universal when you get there even if it is around noon time.

your tickets will expire anyway, you can't save them.
go and do the afternoon before checking into the hotel.

by the time you get there, most of the crowds could be in the back of the park. if you have to wait for rides, it might not be as bad as you think.
go during the weekdays, less crowds than the weekend.

use the single rider lines to cut back on wait time in the regular lines.
decide in advance which rides you really want to do and follow that plan.
you can park hop to the other side after an hour after being in one of the parks.

if you eat before you get to the parks, that will save time. concentrate your ride time when most of the guests are eating. you might find lesser lines from noon to 1:15 as most are looking for rest time and eating then.

do universal for a partial day, return within 7 days to spend a full day there. it will work.
