you're sick and on Atkins?
All I want right now is some chicken noodle soup and some saltine crackers:( .
I have a major sinus infection and a terrible sore throat. The last thing I want right now is a big steak:).
I want good old fashion comfort food like my mommy used to make:rolleyes:
Pity please, I feel so terrible. LOL

There are some great soups you can have on atkins....we had ham/asparagus last night..it will make you feel so good and warm inside.

I hope you get feeling better soon...I know it is hard.

Hey PM Buddy,

Sorry you are feeling so poorly.

I sent you a PM with some ideas for you, but I forgot to add warm SF Jello. make up some SF Jello, but don't put it in the fridge, instead drink it while it is warm. It will feel good on your throat.

Hope you get to feeling better.

Webray, do you have a recipe or can you tell me where to find one? Is it low enough for induction low, or just "low" ? ;)

tinaw...I hope you're feeling better soon! I know broth is ok...at least it's hot...I guess we Atkins folks have to pretend there are saltines!

I haven't had soup since I started Atkins a couple of weeks ago, and I'm one who HAS to have stuff in my soup, so I guess that's why I've avoided it thus far. :(

Karen :smooth:

I don't know too much about Atkins, but could you get some chicken broth and maybe some chunk chicken (there's some packaged chicken breast that comes in little packets like tuna that taste pretty good, don't know if they'd work for Atkins or not) and mix those together? Make your own variation of chicken soup, just without the noodles?

Thanks everyone for the ideas. I was thinking about some hot tea but I don't have any decaf and I'm worried that the caffeine might make me feel worse. I haven't had caffeine in almost two months.

I still feel like a (word that would get editted by the mods) I have dr. appointment this afternoon.

Right now I'm trying to convince myself I feel a little better because I have to go and pick up DD from kindergarten. Luckily we have curbside pickup so I don't have to get out of the car.

The "good" news is I have dropped two more lbs in the past 2 days:D I'm sure they will find me again as soon as I am feeling better. The kicker is I used a ketosis stick this morning just to see and I am in the highest range, dark purple. I have never been in that range before. Maybe I have discovered a new "diet" but I wouldn't suggest it to anyone:rolleyes:

I usually sip lots of ice water when I have a sore throat, and for some reason, I like to drink it through a straw - probably brings back childhood memories of Mom babying me when I was sick.

Chicken broth with veggies (like chopped celery, a bit of onion, etc.) and bits of chicken is good.

I hesitate to say this, because it can be dangerous for some people but I will anyway. When your body is sick and healing it sometimes needs more calories and low-glycemic carbs. However, there's a fine line between giving yourself a little extra energy to heal and spiraling down into a carb-fest that will really set you back. You have to know what you can safely handle.

I hope you're feeling better soon!

I hope you are feeling better now, tinaw! It is definitely no fun when you are sick!!

Hugs!

Thank you for the good thoughts everyone. I am still sick as a dog. My doctor said I have a very bad sinus infection combined with a double ear infection and very bad sore throat. He said I will probably want to be in bed for 3-4 days and not feel my normal self for at least 10 days. I have been drinking lots of broth, water and diet 7-up. I figure at this point a little aspertame isn't going to kill me.:D

Email me at webray@aol.com, I will give you the recipe..we are still in induction and it is great...very easy for hubby to take to work with him for lunch also.
