What do you 'do'??

Hi all. What types of jobs do you have? I'm looking to make a career switch, and just want to see what my beloved disers do!!

I operate a Water Treatment Plant(Drinking Water), the plant I work at has a capacity of just over 48 million gallons a day.

What do you currently do?

I am a SAHM now but before that I was a Claims Adjuster for auto insurance. I actually LOVED that job. It was very detail oriented, investigative, analytical and problem solving. I enjoyed talking to people. When I left that job I was processing our legal litigation claims and starting doing claims on Homeowners insurance.

Prior to that I was a Service Manager for the Olive Garden. I liked that but I hated the restaurant hours and lifestyle. I knew that going in but once I got a bit older and more interested in settling down it just didn't work for me.

I have the best possible job. I am retired!

However, I do work (not more than) two days a week at Disney World, but it is a very small percentage of my income and on average I spend more here in a month than they pay me.

But over the years I had two jobs I really enjoyed. I spent about 13 years as a travelling Internal Auditor and Disaster Accountant for The American Red Cross (averaging about 106 work days a year in travel status, usually in 6-8 week blocks) and then I spent about 17 years running the Central Accounting System of the Federal Courts.

Part time insurance agent now and I like it. Prior to that I've been:
Stay at Home Dad - bestest job ever!
Insurance Adjuster/damage appraiser, Auto - Liked the work, hated the 60+ hour weeks.
Police Officer - Liked the work, hated working weekends, nights and holidays.
Fire Fighter - Left this for more exciting police work, dumb move.
Truck Driver - Saw a lot of the country.

As you may have guessed I'm a Certified Nurses Aide. I have worked in home health care, nursing homes, & hospitals. I currently part time work for a staffing agency. The bad side is often the hours are either feast or famine & travel time. The good side is you choose the hours you want to work, & if its a bad place you don't ever have to go back. The other part of the time I'm a SAHM to 2 teenage girls!, so in many ways I have the best & worst of both worlds!!!
