tossing around bringing our lil Westie-Poo to our trip next Oct/Nov 2010. We have a long trip down from NJ, but thinking, heck will be paying for a kennel to keep her up at home while we are gone, why not check into cost/ease of having them there during your vacation down in DW....

Here are some questions off the top of my head: what is cost? what do you do with them while out at MK/Epcott, etc all day? Is it a headache having them there with you, i.e. a "home" responsibility I'd rather not have on top of the 3 kids, DH, mother, new trailer experience???

Would love to hear some thoughts from others , thanks a bunch;)

Only you can answer some of these questions. For us, it was the reason we bought an RV to start with. It was a way we could take the dogs with us and have them comfortable. First unless you have a tent or a soft side type trailer you can keep your dog at your site. Second, it is $5 a night extra for pets, no matter how many. Third, I would make sure they like to travel and have some RV experience before doing a long trip. Our dogs love to go in the RV and they stay happily in it while we go to the parks. Our usual agenda is to take them out in the a.m. and give them a long walk or run at the dog park. Then we go to the parks until early afternoon. We come back for a few hours and again take them out and give them some time and we go back to the parks at night. Everyone has a little different plan for the day, but lots of people bring their dogs.

This was discussed in reasonable depth a few days ago in this thread (click me).

We bring our cocker and schnoodle with us. They are not a problem at all. I'd rather have them with us and not have to worry about them at home. They love the walks. We come back for lunch and dinner and walk them, play, etc. Ours are crate trained, so when we leave we put on the television and they are fine. We usually leave them for 6 hours, give or take.
