What do you do with your passports

Do you leave them in the room safe, hotel safe deposit box or do you carry them on you?

Are you talking about during a cruise or at the parks?

If on a cruise, we leave them in the safe and use our KTTW card and ID to get back on the ship.

If at the parks , I would think you would want to leave them locked in your room safe.

I've always left ours in the safe in our room! Never had any issues leaving cash and passports in them while at Disney.

Any cards or I.D. I don't need at the parks (including passports) are kept in the room safe.

Keep them in the room safe.

If at all possible when travelling, always have two pieces of ID, and always keep them in two separate locations, even on your person (one in your purse/wallet, one in your pocket, or backpack, etc). This way, if one piece of ID gets lost of lifted, you still have proof of who you are and where you are from.

This is what we do as well, but I even photocopy the passports and tuck them in a slot in my suitcase. Do the same with credit cards and health card, but those are pics on my email.

What if your room doesn't have a safe? Anyone ever used the hotel safe deposit box? Normally I would also be using the room safe, without any issues.

We keep our passports in the room safe. I also have a photocopy of their info page that is kept at each of:
- home
- in whatever bag I am carrying into the parks

Our passports always live in an RFID pouch, whether they are being carried in my purse or sitting in a safe.

I have used the hotel safe deposit box at many hotels, including, at Disney, at WL and BC. At Disney I needed to use it because I had a laptop with me and the room safes are too small for a laptop. It worked very well and I had no issues. You do have to budget in the extra time for putting your items in and retrieving them, though; and sometimes you may have to wait in line a bit at the front desk to get a CM to go to the safe room, so don't expect it to be just a couple minutes, PLAN on it taking longer and be happy if it is shorter.

Speaking as a young adult, we have kept ours on us because a kiosk wouldn't accept our drivers licenses once as a form of ID when purchasing alcoholic drinks---they told us they would only accept our passports.

We keep our passports in the safe, carry our DLs on us.

I also keep photocopies of our DLs, passports, birth certificated and health cards. Just in case.... of what.. who knows. But I am crazy and would hate to not have that info on hand ever if I needed it.

I leave it in the safe. I stayed in a hotel in Cocoa Beach once that did not have a safe in each room but they had a safe at the front desk.

We also do the safe (along with Mp3 player, tablet, wallets, etc) -- we also scan and email passports to our emergency contacts back home... [...and, conveniently, also accessible on our smartphones...]
