This may seem like a silly question but... what do you do with any bags you are carying when you go on rides? I live in the UK and love white knuckle rides. Over here I go to a big theme park called Alton Towers. On some of the big rides they have a cabinet you can put your bag in for the duration of the ride. Once all the guests are on the ride the cabinet is shut and another opened for the next lot of people. When you have finished your ride the cabinet you put your things in is opened again so bags are usually quite safe. Does this happen at Disney. I know I will need to take a small bag into the park to put sun tan lotion, the camera in etc but am worried that this will mean that I will have no where safe to put it whilst on rides. I know you can get lockers but then you have the hastle of having to go back to them every time you want to get something out.

Thanks for your help,

The only place at Disney where they have a cabinet to put your bag in is Cyber Space Mountain at Disney Quest. Oh, and Kali River Rapids has a dry spot in the center of all rafts for bags (but it fills up quickly). None of the coasters inside the parks have them. (Just as an aside, many of the coasters at Islands of Adventure have lockers that you can rent for free for a couple of hours).

I usually put my bag at my feet, and run my leg through the strap so I don't have to worry about it as much. If I'm going on Splash Mountain, I usually run my leg through the strap, and then put the bag on my feet so that it's not sitting in the water on the bottom of the log.

I don't bring anything into the parks other than my fanny pack. I am amazed at how people carry around bags and stuff. I just walk around with nothing in my hands or on my back and I love it. All I need is my sunglasses, a little money, key to the room and my driver's license. No one in my family ever brings anything into the parks.

I am with you on this one!!!! I am not on a hike or a trip, so, I don't need a lot.
If you are staying on site and have made purchases, you can send them back to your resort at not charge. They will arrive the next day.

im thinking what you meant by carrying bags around is things you buy inside the park.well personally i dont buy all my gifts and shirts till the last day. if it doesnt fit in a small fanny pack or a light back pack im not carrying it.and if you forget anything in the park orlando airport has a gift shop where you can find all the things you forgot...;)

Thanks for your comments but I wasn't meaning gifts that I buy whilst in the park. I am going to need to take sun cream and a sun hat with me as I have very fair skin and am from England so am not used to hot weather and burn easily!! Also as it is our first trip to Disney I will want to take photos so will need to cary my camera. Also as it will be hot when we go in August I will also want to cary a water bottle. I guess these could all fit into a small bag that I would wear over my shoulder when on a ride.

What do you think???

Thanks Dana

At the very least, I carry a fanny pack, a water bottle and a Mistymate. But usually we do have at least one bag full of other stuff. I put the bag at my feet and put my foot through the strap. It works fine. :D

All I ever use is a fanny pack - it is amazing what you can fit in them. Perhaps a purchase of the new sunscreen towlettes will suffice for carrying suntan lotion in a fanny pack. All I carry in my pack is my room key, throw-away camera, a small, thin wallet (holds some cash, one cc, and drivers license), sunglasses in a thin case. I put in snack baggies some Tylenol and Tums just for emergencies.

It is so uncomfortable toting bags, etc. in the heat and humidity. The more you can keep your hands free and yourself unemcumbered, the better I say - JMHO! :)

We take a very small back pack from somewhere like JJB Sports, A4 size to put water and sun cream in. My camera I have around my neck. I have no trouble with this on any Disney Rides at Universal/IOA for Hulk and Duelling Dragon's they have lockers.

Hope this Helps.....

If you are staying at a Disney resort, have them ship your packages back to the room as you make purchases. We did this last year and everything was brought back to the room and placed on our bed. I would reccomend not bringing anything but a backpack for important things like sunscreen, poncho, extra shirt etc.

Your purchases at the Hotel Shop!;) I carry a Digital Camera, around my shoulder, and my Phone-wallet also. If your camera has a belt loop on it, wear a belt and loop it thru. I also do not carry a lot, just my Wallet/Phone and a camera.;)

But sometimes if you have a small enough bag, you can wedge it in the seat with you. And if the ride has a seatbelt, you can run it through the handle of your bag. But my overall recommendation is to wear the fanny pack, just get one big enough to hold your sunscreen. Your may be able to hold your hat on the rides, unless you really are holding on with white knuckles!

I like to alternate between a fanny pack and a very small shoulderbag or backpack. I find that I get tired of wearing a fanny pack every day, so I bring a small Eagle Creek shoulder bag to use every few days. I wish I could fit everything in my pockets, but I have to bring my perscription sunglasses with me, so I have to have some type of a fanny pack or bag for that.

I got a great fanny pack from LL Bean. It's not very wide, but it's very long. It has a built-in wallet section with zippers that I can use for my credit card, license, and room key. The big compartment is very roomy. I can fit my camera, my sunglasses, my cellphone, and a snack or two in that bag with room to spare. I usually carry my waterbottle on a strap around my neck.

Just a suggestion, if you do the resort delivery, always ask when they will be able to deliver it to the resort. I purchased one of those R2-D2 robots at the Star Tours gift shop, and didn't want to carry it around, so I was going to have it delivered to the resort. This was about 7pm, and they told me it wouldn't be delivered until the day after the next day, so I wasn't able to do that and had to carry it. So apparently there is a cut-off time for next day.

I found a great bag a few years ago (actually a purse) with lots of zippers - but with a VERY long strap (which I carried not on my shoulder but crossed it over my chest) it was much smaller than a backpack but larger than a fanny pack - it was big enough for things like sunscreen, small wallet and small water bottle.

Then I would leave is attached to my body but let it sit next to me on the seat - that way it wasn't in my way but fit easily on all the rides
