If your room isn't ready until 4:00 (just suppose) what can you do with your perishables??

Please don't say tough luck...We're going to be there first thing in the morning!! And I've already purchased everything..

Thanks.

Although I haven't done this, I've read on this board that the resort will store your perishables until your room is available.

What about an inexpensive foam cooler? This is what we did last time we went to VBR. Just $3.99 for the small and $6.99 for the large at Publix.

You can bring your persiables to the Bell stand and they will store everything for you.
One hint though, don't just tell them "this bag needs to be refridgerated", "this bag is canned goods" etc...
Tell them, which bags need to be put in the freezer and which need to be refridgerated. I learned from experience. We made some great milkshakes when we finally got to our room and realized that we forgot to tell them to FREEZE the ice cream.

I usually don't shop until we can get into the room. That way I know for sure it will go straight into the frig or freezer. It is kinda a pain but that is the way we do it. Then it is usually a race to any PS's I might have made.

How much food do you usually have left over? We usually have some and my DH complains the whole way home about how much food we wasted, how much money thrown away, on and on... you get the picture. Friends of ours usually have ALOT more food left over and anything that has not been opened they leave in the room for mousekeeping to take and use. I have heard that they are not allowed to keep it and it must be thrown out. The food thrown away must be huge at DVC resorts. Too bad there isn't a food pantry nearby.

When we checked into OKW a few weeks ago, we had stopped for a few items at the grocery. Upon arrival, we had hoped our room would be ready, but it wasn't (no big deal). We gave the bell service folks our refrigerated items (and a few things that were in the bag with them) and they kept them nice a cool for us until check-in. We didn't have any freezer items, so it worked out great for us.

Our room wasn't ready when we checked into BCV in June. We left everything with Bell Services and they delivered the groceries to our room when we were finally able to get in. Everything was fine but I have since purchased some insulated freezer bags which I will take with us on our next trip and have all of the freezer/refrigerator stuff packaged in these. This will insure our freezer and fridge items stay cold. Annmarie
