stuffed animals your kids have? I am weeding out a bunch of them - but there's still a ton...& to be honest there's quite a few of mine too (I collect bunnies---) need to find a way to display/store them 'cause it's a tiny room the kiddos share....

Shelves at the top of the room circling the room - displays the stuffed animals up and out of the way. I have a plant stand for a corner - it has three shelves - and it's covered with stuffed animals. Bins under the bed store some more, and that's where I keep the ones that are more "favorites" and get played with more often.

I have a soft spot for sutffed animals - so it's hard to say no to the kids.

:)

Our local police department collects gently used stuffed animals to keep in their patrol cars for children who they encounter during their daily job--some of them are kids who are lost, have a parent being arrested, or the like.

Police dept. is a GREAT idea! I donate some $$ (united way) to local Police Chaplain unit for same reason........(purpose).......Good idea!!!

or my MIL washes hers first (duh).....and donates to local nursing home .....
something to comfort the elderly.

I just tossed out 3 garbage bags of my daughters old stuffed animals....Every year before her birthday and Christmas I always say I am going to scream if one more person brings a stuffed animla over for her LOL...we keep the special ones like the first one she got from her uncle etc...but other than that I am now keeping them a short time and throwing them out....

Their best/favorites are bagged and in the attic. Saving them for THEIR kids. the rest went to goodwill

Some of mine are in plastic bins in the basement. Some I threw out. My favorite ones are in my room on shelves. I also took my beanie babies and hung them around my room using those hooks that attach to the wall. You know, the ones with the stickey stuff and then you just pull them and they come right off without leaving a mark. I have an angel one hanging on my door and then a few others (only my favorites, the rest are in the basement) hanging around me room.

I read somewhere once (I think on here somewhere) that SOME humane societies will take them for the animals, it said of course that they eyes and choking hazzards had to be removed, but that some humane societies had voluteers to do that? If you have ever had a bored dog, you know how many stuffed animals they would go through if given the opportunity :flower:

I just did the same thing a couple of weeks ago. I had the girls pick out about 10 each of their favorites and the rest went out with the trash. I keep the ones they kept in a toy box in their closet. Hopefully we won't get anymore for Christmas!

DS has a stuffed animal 'hammock' in the corner of his room, you would be amazed how many you can fit on there. He also keeps about 10 in his bed. Any that he does not care about however, I have sold at yard sales, given to Goodwill, or given to my mother to give to some of the kids she works with (she does contract work with the state, going into at-risk homes and observing and teaching parents what they need to do, you would be amazed how many of these young kids have no toys.).

We donated a BUNCH of them to the local crisis nursery. This is a place where kids are placed in temporary foster homes, usually for a weekend or something and they send a stuffed animal to keep with all the kids when they are placed. They are always looking for stuffed animals. Check with any women's shelters, too, they often like getting stuffed animals for the kids that come with their moms.

We take them to goodwill or put them in the attic.

I collect bunnies as well, we have a big entrance way so a lot of my stuffed bunnies and other bunnie decor is displayed there since I am also a rabbit breeder customers love being able to look at them when they come over. :)

I like the idea of shelves encircling the room, do you have a photo? O
envisioning ot looking like crown molding just not in the right spot. BUt that stuff is a pain in the butt to put up....what do you suggest to use? I know we couls use the shelves w/the brackets to be super easy but it's jsut not pretty....

Good thing you bumped - I was out taking the pics, and then lost the thread! ;)

It was hard to get the pic of the shelves cuz the ceiling fan gets in the way. At the end of the shelf I used a fruit holder to hold smaller plush. Then all the Mickey and Minnies are on the corner plant stand. We had to find ways to display the stuffed animals we have - you can see that we have a bunch! :teeth: We do go through once and awhile and weed out the ones that we aren't particulary fond of and give them to Goodwill or a children's hospital.

We give a bagfull every now and then to either women's shelters or children's hospitals. :) We try to keep the sentimental ones, but our boys just end up with so many of them.
