I force my eyes to stay wide open while I'm laying down. Usually this works and my eyes just can't do it for very long and I konk out.

What insomnia tricks do you have? I could use a few.:D

Sometimes I count backwards. Either by ones, twos or threes.

Sometimes I spend about 30 minutes stretching.

Watch tv, dis, read, snood, freecell,

sadly - i eat.
thankfully it doesn't happen that often.

crackers, a PBJ sandwhich, or some cookies and a glass of milk in my belly usually help.

I usually can't sleep BECAUSE I'm hungry...hehehe...damn diet.

read, watch boring tv. Except if I don't fall asleep before DH, I have to use earplugs 'cause of all the noise he makes when he snores. I will never fall asleep without them.

This has been happening to me a few times a week. Problem is I have to get up at 6:30 a.m. to go to work. I used to be such a heavy sleeper.

Other than tossing and turning waiting for sleep, I have a tiny walkman I listen to til I fall asleep. I try not to wake DH. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

The worst part is when I DO finally fall asleep - it's complete TORTURE when that alarm clock goes off - I feel like I'm a magnet and the bed is a giant hunk of steel. I'm literally STUCK to my bed!

Same here. The most wonderful blessed sleep hits me in the morning but somehow I've managed to drag myself out of bed.

A co-worker of mine has called in absent because of oversleeping quite a few times. I don't know how long she'll be able to keep that up without jeopardyzing her job? Go figure.

Watch TV or put on some music I find if I have the noise it helps me go to sleep.

This is going to sound kind of obvious, but I just close my eyes til I fall asleep. Sometimes it takes a looooong time. When I was a little girl my mom use to tell me to just close my eyes and go to sleep and I always though "yah, umhmmm, sure like that works,"hehe

I find that I can't sleep when my thoughts are racing too much or if I'm worried about something. What I do is redecorate my bedroom (in my head of course) until I drop off. Another thing that has worked is spending the powerball jackpot. This has become so routine for me that I usually fall asleep within just a few minutes.

Sometimes I just lay there other times I will watch tv.

Excedrine PM's work wonders!!

My problem is not falling asleep, it is staying alseep. I fall asleep and only sleep for 10 or 15 minutyes then I am bright eyed and bushy tailed. If I go online I will be up all night and really get a vicious cycle going.

Tylenol is absolutely the only over the counter med I am allowed. Thank goodness I can take Tylenol PM. It usually does the trick

Two will knock me right out, but leave me groggy the next day.

One will work, but not immediately.

One PM plus one regular usually does the trick.

I watch TV. Then I really get into something and get irritated when I fall asleep half way through and miss the rest.

Last night I was watching something on NOVA about the global population. Conked out in the middle. Oh well! :P

A Unisom and a glass of wine works wonders for me :D

I try to remember my last trip to WDW from beginning to end....I rarely make it to the end though as this usually relaxes me into a good sleep!!!

In the last trimester of all of my pregnancies, I could fall asleep easily, but then would wake after a few hours and not be able to fall asleep again even though I was SO tired. At first I would just cry, then I surrendured to it. I would do things like organize recipes (glue them on recipe cards). The best thing was to read a "dull" book (non-fiction is great). I had never been able to get through The Memoirs of Catherine the Great, but I got through it while in my pregnancy insomnia...still, I could only read a couple of chapters at a time. (Avoid "page turners.")

i eat junk and drink tea and water...ill also pop on the tv and start watching until i fall asleep
