Florida thunderstorms I can tolerate. Put on the ponchos and tough it out. But if Katrina dumps torrents of rain and BTW we are slated to start our vacation tomorrow pm, then what do you do?

Besides Disney Quest and maybe a movie what else has anyone done to while the time?

We've gone to the parks!!!

Like you said, bring a poncho and tough it out! The parks will be pretty empty.

Have fun,

Bob

If they don't close the parks, I'll be there. To heck with rain. I take a shower every day!

My biggest concern would be, if the parks close, and then they close Downtown Disney and don't have buses running. I don't wanna be stranded at the hotel again.

If the buses are running, a couple of restaurants stay open, and the movie theatre stays open, I can deal with a days washout.

Don't worry, the parks won't be closed for this storm unless something completely strange happens.

You can go to the movies whenever you want at home...it usually doesn't rain all day in FL..and even if it does, theres PLENTY of indoor entertainment (except AK...if you're there, then just go to a diff. park) Don't let a little water ruin your vacation! I don't even use a pancho..if it's warm, the rain is a relief and fun!!

If they close the parks because of a hurricane, nothing will be open and you'll have to go back to your hotel. That's what Charlie did lats year.

Our family made our very first Christmas trip last year. We were there the week of Christmas..........it absolutely POURED on Christmas Day, our EPCOT day. We had come prepared, as it had been "misty" the day before (our DTD day), with ponchos and warmer clothes. But I can honestly say that we were NOT prepared for how really WET we got. Plus, since it was December 25, it was cold.....ugh.

We really wouldn't have minded the rain - we have toughed it out at WDW many times before, although ponchos didn't help after awhile - we were soaked thru! But our World Showcase time was limited to what was indoor the pavillions. We didn't get to experience any of the really fun outdoor "extras" in each country. Suffice if to say, it wasn't our most enjoyable time at EPCOT....memorable, yes, but not enjoyable. And believe me, we would have gladly changed days, if we could, but that was our only day for EPCOT.

My suggestion......if it is really raining, and you are planning to go to EPCOT.....the indoor attractions will be great, although one does get tired of being told to "remove your raingear." But don't expect to have a wonderful time experiencing the outdoor attractions in World Showcase, like the street players, etc., as they were non-existent when we were there. Personally, I would pick a different park, or do DTD.

Next month, when dh and I go for our anniversary.......we are spending 2 days in EPCOT (my request!), to make up for the nasty day we had last time.

We were at WDW in early July this summer and the outer bands of "Dennis" were approaching and forecasts called for a "100%" chance of rain for Sat. the 9th. So we decided to go to Blizzard Beach that day! Never did rain that much, but......

.......if it's gonna rain, what better place to be than a water park!

A couple of years ago we went to Disney for 5 days. It rained for 5 days :umbrella: . We did not do as much as we wanted to but we still had fun. Those ponchos are hot :tilt:

Put on sandals and your bathing suits with quick dry shorts and grab the ponchos. Head for the parks, you'll get a ton done with very little waiting. DH and I were at WDW during Hurricane Andrew and we were able to get a huge amount done in very little time! This summer when Hurrican Dennis dumped a ton of rain we were in the parks as well.
