we are headed down on Sat, and they are predicting a "slight chance of showers" on 2-3 of the days. What do you guys usually do, stick it out in the parks? Our 2 year old will be in full size jogging stroller and we have a rain cover, although we never used it before. anyone have any tips/ideas for what to do when it rains?

To be honest if you can tolerate getting a little wet it is the best time to go on rides.

We put on our ponchos and head to the parks. No changes needed our schedule. Duck into a show or shop if it downpours. The serious rain never seems to last for that long, luckily.

We head for cover and wait it out. While we have ponchos, our feet would get soaked, as well as everything in the stroller. It was worth it to us to find cover. As a PP said... it usually doesn't last all that long.

We go in one of the stores in the park and buy a Mickey Poncho and keep going.

OUR last trip to disney it rained straight for 5 days.... after paying for tickets and everything else I kept a smile on my face and pushed through the days... Luckily rides are indoors for the most part but it does put a damper on some of the day parades and what not... The worst part was getting wet feet.... I have learned that if theres a chance this will happen in feb when we go im getting a locker and taking extra socks and possibly shoes... We had just 5 of the kids with us then but it was stressful for me although my kids were way to excited to let it get them down. AS mom and planner of the vacation... its just normal to want everything to be perfect but after the last time I have realized that the perfect part was due to the fact that we were all there together creating memories....

Perfectly said - a couple years ago, we stayed at POR, and it rained and I mean RAINED for 6 whole days - all we remember is running to the food court getting soaking wet and hitching rides with the golf cart/luggage guys. While we were doing it it wasn't the best, but looking back, we sure did have alot of laughs!

As for the shoes - that was a big problem for us last year. We spent hours drying tennis shoes with the hotel hair dryer some nights! This year I am getting crocs for everyone. I'll throw extra socks in a Ziploc in my bag, so we can change if we get them wet. If they get wet again, guess we'll wear them naked!:rolleyes1

We go to the parks anyway! Rain ponchos and stroller covers are the best...and a pair of flip flops!

Go to the park!!

Make sure you pack your poncho, extra socks, and if you can fit it, a small travel umbrella.

I agree with all of the above. Go to the parks (or stay in them if you are already there when it starts to raon). Bring ponchos with you if you don't want get wet. I wear crocs, so the wet shoe issue wasn't a problem for me (although, if you have worn out the tread on the bottoms, you may want to invest in a new pair...those do get a bit slippery on wet ground!). In August, we walked on to just about everything because everyone either left because of the rain, or decided to spend the day somewhere else. It was great! My DS (3 at the time) just kept telling me, "but it's only raindrops mommy." His best memory is of riding Goofy's Barnstormer 6 times in a row, without having to leave our seats, with the rain hitting us in the face the entire time. He laughs so hard every time we talk about it...

We go to the parks. If you go with the right attitude, it can be a blast. Put on the flip flops or crocs, prepare to get soaked and have some fun. We loved being able to do things like not even get off rides and just keep looping the rides because NO ONE was at MK. Some of our best WDW moments have been in the rain. One of our best days this last trip was a rain soaked afternoon and night at the MK. By rain soaked I mean walk outside and be soaked within 2 minutes rain. and it didn't let up until the next day. We had a blast.

Take a poncho and keep going. When we took our son for the first time (he was almost 3) we just put on a ponch and took him an extra set of clothes in the backpack for when it quit raining!

With all the happy sounding posts, I'm almost wishing for a day of rain. :rotfl2: Although I'm sure I"ll get it in July anyway.

We LOVE the rain at WDW!! It's usually just an hour or so, and it is back to normal! It's like having the parks to yourself!! Now, if you absolutely hate to get out in the rain- there is Disney Quest, or a Movie at DTD!

Pack extra shoes, take an umbrella, buy ponchos and have a great time! The parks really do thin out when it rains and, depending on when you go, keeps the temps down.

Thought I'd chime in too. We had a great rain day at MK!!! PEople scattered, we got on just about everything and even a table at Cinderella Castle for dinner without a reservation and Cinerella and FGM were in the waiting area. It was very cool.

What do you do when it rains? You put on ponchos and have the time of your life. At no other time will you be able to dance down Main Street arms stretched out and not worry about touching another soul. I remember my girls twirling down Main St. (I'm dating myself but think Mary Tyler Moore.) We go about every 5 or 6 weeks, and that was out favorite trip. In fact, we were a little bummer the next day when the sun came out. It meant we had to wait in lines.

Exactly!!!! Remember, it's FLorida!! It can actually be a great thing. A lot of people will just stay under awnings or in stores or leave. This is a GREAT time to hit the rides. Just run through it and have a great time! It usually is fast and furious and then gone.
