What do you do to make your resort room nicer

On top of the many great suggestions offered here, I always make sure to bring an HDMI cord and adapter so we can hook up our iPad to the television and stream Netflix or iTunes movies. I don't care for "real" tv while on vacation.

Great idea.

Housekeeping will bring you more hangers if you call and ask for them.

I know; I always used to call and ask for them. That being said, I hang a LOT of clothes, and the thinner ones that I bring from the dry cleaners are better. They take up less space in the closet! I just leave them when we check out. Plus, I don't like to wait, as sometimes it would take 30 minutes or so for someone to come with them. I like to unpack right away so we can head out!

Absolutely the best idea for room organization that I got from this site was the offer the door shoe organizer and the pop up hamper . I am painfully type A (neurotic , particular-- there are many accurate adjectives that apply here :teeth:) and room clutter stresses me out like crazy . I must have a tidy room to come back to ! The hamper and shoe organizer were game changers for me . I can't believe I sent so many years without them .

I feel the same way. I just throw a couple extra hangers in the suitcase that I can leave behind if I want to. I already call to ask for extra pillows and extra face cloths so I don't want to go crazy asking for stuff!

Don't mean to sound like a snob but we stayed at AoA last week in a Cars suite and it had everything. Tons of outlets, loads of storage space, and our mousekeeper left the room stocked and perfect every day. The curtains closed all the way to make it totally dark and there was a clothes line for drying swim suits in the shower.

The only things we brought were air freshener spray, a nightlight for the bathroom nearer my kids, my own pillow (a $6 one from Ikea), and a fridge full of drinks and snacks from Garden Grocer. We were competely comfortable.

Nothing like a closet organizer or shower caddy or hooks or a power strip was needed. I actually felt kind of dumb for thinking I'd need all this extra gear. Guess not every room is created equal.

For my stays at Pop, I think my small Black & Decker travel single cup coffee maker is worth WAY more than the $15 or so I paid for it. I make good espresso ground coffee in the mornings (can't stand Disney coffee, and I like to relax in bed with it first thing in the morning on vacation). I order disposable coffee cups with lids.

I've also brought a travel candle sometimes (it's in a tin, and no I wouldn't ever put it near anything flammable or leave it lit for long).

We order snacks, drinks, wine & beer for the room (next time I'm using Safeway; they are cheaper than GG). For stays at value resorts, a wine glass is a nice idea! I'm going to do that next trip! Nice to relax with some wine, cheese & crackers in the evening.

Do you fly? We are staying value and Mom likes to have a cup first thing and I was wondering if flying with a small coffee maker was doable.

Yes, we always fly! I got one from Amazon (actually had it shipped directly to the resort, and had planned on just leaving it there, but it fit into my suitcase just fine to come home). I had bought the small cone filters at the grocery store at home, so had those. I totally need my coffee first thing in the morning, and don't want to throw clothes on just to walk over to get it from the food court!

Here is the one I have: https://smile.amazon.com/BLACK-DECK...478429641&sr=8-1&keywords=travel+coffee+maker

It's totally worth the $16.71! I either bring good Starbucks coffee with me, or Bustelo espresso ground coffee (or have it in my grocery order). I can get sweetener & stirs from the food court.

Without having read anything, a power strip and/or outlet for charging all the devices. Preferably one that also has USB ports as well.

I stayed at the Boardwalk last year for Food & Wine, and there were PLENTY of power outlets and USB ports, so there is no need to bring that with you at all.

Personal preference, but I really wish people wouldn't take air fresheners, essential oils, and other fragrances. So many people are either extremely sensitive to fragrance or don't really want someone else selecting what their room is going to smell like. Fragrances are so hard to get rid of. JMO! :)

Not every room on property is like this. The rooms in the Value Resorts (other than the suites at AoA) do not have very many outlets and I don't think they have any USB ports. We've stayed in an AoA suite on our last 3 visits and they *do* have numerous outlets but only 2 USB ports (for a room that sleeps 6 people). I don't remember any standard Value Resort rooms we've stayed having USB ports -- though it's been a few years since we've stayed in one so that may have changed. For a family of 3 or more, a power strip with USB ports is usually worth packing if you have the space in your bag. We take them wherever we go -- we've had plenty of hotel rooms that don't have enough outlets or USB ports for our family of 5.

The one thing I always make sure to take with me when I travel is a bottle of liquid hand soap, I just put it on the sink in the bathroom and everyone uses it to wash their hands, we never find those tiny hotel room soaps adequate for washing your hands multiple times a day. I usually bring a fun scent of the foaming hand soap that everyone likes from bath and body works, super easy to throw into my makeup bag and sit out when we get there.
I put away all the little paper info things that clutter up every surface. i.e..... Messages about sheets and towels and TV etc. Then I take the water glasses and put them under the sink cupboard, because oftentimes these are dirty and lipstick stained. YUCK! I replace them with paper cups I pack. I then wash down all the bathroom counter and faucets and table surfaces with sani wipes. I put junk and clutter and all bathroom toiletries and tooth brushes away in a drawer every day. This takes five minutes and makes the room look and feel a lot better to me.

We always bring several of our own trash bags from home because we find the ones provided for hotel trash cans aren't big enough to handle the volume of garbage we generate. Disinfecting wipes and a travel size Lysol spray are also standard things we pack to give knobs, handles, and surfaces a good, quick wipe down and spray when we first check in. For organization/comfort, we also plan on packing a pop up hamper, a mesh laundry bag, a couple small collapsible bins, a nightlight, a couple toothbrush holders, paper towels, a few extra hangers, hand soap, a dish sponge, and a small bottle of dish liquid (for washing refillable mugs). There will be seven of us in two rooms at Pop so we know making an effort to stay organized will make the rooms comfortable places to retreat to when we return from the parks.
