what do you do on your last day?...

On our last trip, we tried to spend the final day at DTD, but we had run out of $$$ by then, so that wasn't too much fun. I guess we're just not very good about budgeting souvenir funds. :confused3 So much for that idea....

Anyway, I'm always really grumpy on our last day, so I decided that on our next trip we will just order room service and relax until check-out. Then maybe swim at the resort and have a few drinks until it's time to leave. Low key fun is best for me when I'm  about leaving WDW.

We fly out of MCO everytime.
Last year we were running REALLY late!
We checked out early and drove to Sea World because my daughter really wanted to go on an Endangered Species tour that was filled when we were there earlier in the week.
I thought we left in good time, but there was a bad downpour that didn't let up quickly like most Florida rains... and I didn't take into consideration getting hopelessly lost finding the car rental place.
We got to the airport with only 45 minutes to spare... I really thought we would miss our flight. I was trying not to get too upset and panicky, after all this was our last day of a great vacation. I just thought, ok, if we miss it we miss it. I'll manage and getting upset won't help.
Well.. baggage check in and security weren't too bad at all! We actually made it. Our flight was 7:31, and we got there about 7:20... Just in time to hear them start announcing the delay. We didn't depart until just before midnight!!! Well, at least we didn't miss it.

As for what we usually do our last day.. whatever we can't resist just one last time! We always take a late flight so we can do something for the day and it's not just a travel day.

Our "tradition" I guess, is on the last night before we leave. We always end the night with Illuminations. We sit at La Cantina de San Angel nice and early and get a good view.

I'm glad to hear that we're not the only ones that cry when it's time to leave.

Last year I took magical express and on the bus ride home they showed a movie and that made me so sad. It was that moment I knew I had to get back soon

we sometimes do a breakfast at a resort- since we have usually used all our park days (tickets)- 1900 Park Fare was nice- then we explore resorts if we have time and always end our trip with a stop at DTD for the last minute shopping. It's always so sad!

This year we were leaving on day 7 of our trip but we went ahead and bought 7 day tickets cause they were only about $2 more per person than a 6 day pass. We knew we would not be able to spend that whole day in a park cause we were having to go to the airport at 1:30 but we at least took the monorail to MK and rode the train around the park (my toddler LOVES the train) and then we shopped a little on Main Street. We only spent a couple of hours there but it was well worth the $2 a piece just to go one last time and say "goodbye". :( Then we got back on the monorail and had lunch at Kona in Poly before leaving for the airport. The last day really is crummy isnt it?

no hard and fast rule, the final night though is usually a MK night if Wishes and Spectro is happening. If its a relatively early flilght then the morning is a DTD stop, if its a late flight, then its a run back to a park and then it all depends on who I am with on which park that happens to be.

We have breakfast at Ohana. Then hit the road back to NC via Lake City or up the coastal highway.

w/ an early afternoon flight we usually get p/u at the hotel around 11 or 12. This still leaves plenty of time for us to sleep in, have bfast & one last swim. it's always sad to leave. the night b4 we try to do wishes or at least the evening at MK. oh, kids pin trade right up to the flight! lol

I hate the last day :sad2: - but we usually leave time to go back to MK because it's my favorite! And shop of course!

We love to hit Downtown Disney and have a yummy sit down lunch and hit the shops before leaving WDW.

fight back tears.....

we have learned to always plan a late flight to get in at least part of one more day:

if we have park admission, we always do MK!!! We hit all of our favorites one last time - lunch at LTT. Hit the candy store on the way out for goodies for the plane and to get us through those first few days back. Ride the monorail one last time and tear up at the "monorail spiel"...

If no park admission: shoppping at DTD, lunch at Rainforest (DD's fave) or Ghirardelli.....

oh, and say "goodbye" to the main gate - just as we screamed "we're here" on the way in...

get to airport early for one last stop in the Disney store there, before facing the reality that we really do have to leave....

We tend to get an early start on our last day. We check our luggage and check out of the hotel and head to the hotel restaraunt for brunch. Then, I like to go to the Magic Kingdom for a little while - I like for the last experience of my trip to be me looking down Main Street at the castle. :wizard:

Oh yeah - I forgot to mention that I ALWAYS cry before I leave. :guilty:

I too am leaving around 5ish on our departure day....so I think we will get in any last minute shopping and have a good meal. But what a sad day it will be. :rolleyes2
