What do you do on your arrival day?

We've only been twice and both times, we took overnight flights. So both times, we ended up dead tired and sleeping a lot the first day. On both of those trips, we started off with some time at Universal or Sea World, before moving to Disney parks.

In December, we'll be taking our first trip since moving from Oregon to North Carolina, so we'll be driving this time. We're driving half way Friday evening after work, so we'll probably be arriving between noon and 2 pm on Saturday. We'll be checking into POR, then heading to Epcot for the afternoon and evening. The only reason I'm planning it this way is because that's the way my itinerary worked out best. We'll only have 5 1/2 days this time, so it's been harder to fit everything in.

Welcome to North Carolina! We are certainly closer to WDW that Oregon! How do you like NC so far? It only takes us about 8 or 9 hours to drive to WDW from Charlotte. You'll love it! Karen

What we do and will be doing it next Thursday  is arrriving at Ft. Wilderness around 10am-11am, get settled, go eat lunch at Earl, shop, back to motor home, and then dinner at Ohanas.

usually we jump on the put down our luggage, jump onthe bed, rest on the bed, go get something to eat, check out the hotel, go to downtown disney, ride the monorail, check out other hotels. But this year I am meeting my awesome girlfriend. We both live in Ontario, about 4 hours away from eachother....but we are going to be inDisney at the same time so we are meeting up the night I arrive. You have NO IDEA how excited I am!

I know conventional wisdom says not to go to MK on a Sunday, but that is the day we arrive, and for me, a Disney trip doesn't start until you go to the MK.
Actually, what we plan to do that day is do an early check (about 7:00 in the morning), leave our luggage at the WL, and head off to the MK. At about 4:00 we will return to the WL, get our room, unpack, relax a little then head back to the MK until closing (EMH).
But since it will be so busy (although possibly not too bad since we are going the first week of Dec.), instead of trying to fight the lines for the rides, we will instead try to focus on parades, shows, autographs, pennies, etc..., and leave the rides for later in the week when we get back to the MK.

Well, here lately we've been doing something different on our arrival day each time we go. We always take an early flight, so we arrive at BCV about 12 or 12:30. We will check in (the room probably won't be ready but we'll check in anyway), then we'll be off to lunch at Beaches and Cream. From there we'll go visit Epcot for a while and then come back to the Beach Club for dinner at Cape May Cafe. Then after that, if we're not too tired, we'll go back to one of the parks if it's not too late. If it's too late, we'll hang out at the resort and relax instead.

It depends on what we feel like when we get in. On our last trip, we arrived about 11 a.m. and went and checked in at POFQ, and then we went to the marina and rented a SeaRaycer boat and cruised up and down the Sassagoula, then we rented Surrey bikes and rode around POR. Then we went out to eat at Boma, and then rested up and hit the parks early the next day.
On our trip next week we will arrive about 5:30 pm so we plan on heading over to MK as soon as we check in to watch Wishes and Spectro, grab a bite, and then back to the resort. There's so much fun stuff to do that we hate to waste a minute.

after i check in i load my stuff to my room. then i hit mk, then i have a sit down meal and watch wishes, and spectromagic and call it a day :thumbsup2

When we went in 2001 and 2002, we went to DTD, shopped, and even played some at PI on arrival day. In 2003 and 2005, we went to MVMCP on arrival day. In 2006, we flew in and headed off to MGM.

In 2007, we will have our dogs with us for the first time, so the plan is to hang out at FW with them for the evening, so as to get them settled in the RV and the new surroundings. The next day will be a park day, but so far, no decisions as to what exactly we will do. I am leaning toward some sort of F&W event at Epcot and a hop to MK for Wishes, if they are not doing the Hallowishes for the regular guests next year. If they do perform Hallowishes instead of regular Wishes, I will most likely opt to go to MGM and see Fantasmic. A lot depends on what my sources tell me will be the best place to go for the night's entertainment. Maggie
