Question...what happens if you make a reservation and after you make the reservation, you get a pin or a special discount offer becomes available? Are you able to get the deal even though you have already made your reservation?

You can absolutely call and change your reservations. We initially booked with the % off the rack rate pin....but when free dining was announced - it was actually CHEAPER...so I called and made the switch no problem! Believe it or not but there's a thread on here somewhere where people make over 10 changes to their reservations before they actually go. The most I ever made was 3 and THAT WAS ENOUGH FOR ME! LOL Good luck!

Yes. You can. Just remember that pins codes are for different types of reservations. You might get a pin code for free dining in which case you must book a package including the purchase of tickets (so tickets and room must be regular price with free dining).

Another pin code might be 40% off room rate. This would be for a room only reservation.

Yes, as long as what you have booked is available under that particular promo. Having a reservation already in place does not guarantee a discount can be applied, so sometimes you have to be flexible with your resort/room type.

Yes but...room discounts can be applied to both room only reservations and to package reservations.
Many people on Dis make reservations and when a discount comes out they call Disney and ask to apply the discount. So, for example say I want to go to the YC for 7 days and I want tickets so I make my reservation for my package and pay full rack rate for the room. 3 months later Disney offers 30% off rooms at my resort so I call and ask to apply the discount - if rooms for the discount are still available @ YC they'll apply the discount to my package. If rooms for that promo are gone @ the YC but rooms elsewhere are available (say the beach club) then I just ask to switch to BC and apply the discount.
The only semi issue that can arise is when some one makes a room only reservation and wants to switch to a package reservation (or vice versa.) then Disney can't simply switch your resort category or whatever, they have to cancel the room only refund all moneys you've paid and make a new package reservation w/ a new reservation number requiring a new $200 deposit. Certainly doable, but a hassle.
