What do you do in line?

We dont' stand in line. Our last three trips have been in January (1) and September (2), and there were no lines. I remember going in June or August and waiting forever (that was prior to fastpass). But, not anymore. We never wait more than 10 minutes. That's what I love about the off season. We also have no children, so can go when we want. We leave in just over two weeks. I hope the Fairy Tale package doesn't mess up my "no lines" strategy.

Off season and early mornings. We won't wait in lines longer than 10-15 minutes, and few attractions even get that much consideration from us.

Try leaning on the people in front of or behind you in line. It's more comfortable than standing. Just make sure you're not leaning on anyone in your party- people get annoyed when you lean on them, and you wouldn't want to do that to anybody you have to spend the rest of the day with.

Also, if you're constantly trying to cut the line, not only do you end up waiting less, but all the sneaking and skulking and trying to get ahead really fills up the time you do end up waiting...

Some other ideas:

Swing on the line chains
Litter and/or spill sodas
Maybe change a baby
Smoke cigarettes/cigars
Get/give a tattoo
Bring a driver, practice your golf swing
Hum, tunelessly and loudly

We try our best to not look eager or bored when we are in line.

Gina (Funhouse8) - I just consulted with DS (now 10) who is the older of my two, and he thinks your kids may find them a bit young, although he plans to take his back in January and enjoys playing it in the car. I think if your kids are fairly sophisticated it might not work, but if they're a little younger for their age it might appeal. Of course, the guaranteed way to make sure they both enjoyed it would be to buy just one so they could fight over it - works really well with my 2! We often found we used ours while waiting for our PS seating in restaurants, too. That Christmas/New Year's period was pretty busy!

Thanks so much for your reply. I was looking on the gifts of a lifetime web page and they sell that games for $25. They also have a handheld trivia game for $19 that I might get my daughter for christmas. I was thinking of putting these under the tree for the two of them. This way they could trade back and forth. I think
they will find this fun as long as their friends don't see them.

My DS9 plays with his gameboy if we are in a long queue, although has the sound turned off because it grates on my nerves let along other peoples in the line!! He has a bum bag/fanny pack which he carries it in so there is no risk of losing it (he also carries some snacks in his bag and grazes on them during the day).

I like talking to people. Especially from countries other than my own. I've learnt a lot over the years!

DH does what he does best - chills out and daydreams .....

You didn't say how old your kids are, but my 5 year old daughter and neice love playing what they call the "disney guessing game". We take turns giving 2 or 3 clues about a Disney character and everyone tries to guess the character. For example: "I'm a girl, my father is an inventor, and I like to read" would be "Belle". They particularly enjoy using characters related to the ride we're waiting for.

It's even fun for us parents because it's amazing to see how such young kids know so much about the Disney characters. You could probably make this work for older kids by giving more obscure clues.

When we have the misfortune to actually have to wait in a line, my husband and I have it down to a science.

First, I ask, "do you want to wait or come back?" Then he says, "we're here, we might as well wait." So we trudge in with the rest of the cattle. I look up and sigh, he kisses my forehead. We share the oreos in the backpack, I get out the guides and plot our next move, we take turns using the little handheld fan on each other, we talk about dinner that night, I tell him he should have worn more sunblock, because his nose is fried. I usually end up getting my shoulders rubbed, or my hands massaged. He worries that the ride will make me sick, and is scoping out the exit and nearest bathrooms and food vendors so he can get me a coke when we get off. We laugh at other people and what they are wearing, Usually by this time, we are on the ride. If no, we repeat the entire thing.

I just realized that this scenario NEVER changes, ride after ride, park after park, whether it's WDW, Six Flags, IOA. We have to get a new act.

My husband and I play handheld Yahtzee and we take turns trying to see who scores the highest. We keep track of wins until one of us is 10 games ahead. Then the loser owes the winner a favor.

We have a little hand-held Disney Trivia Game (got at Toys R Us last Christmas). We use this time to have a pocket snack, like fruit snacks, nuts, etc. also to rehydrate.

We play I-spy; I am thinking of a Disney Character, Disney Movie, Disney ride, etc.; any kind of travel-talking game. You can search online for fun travel games that can be played in the car or In Line
