What do you do first day at fort wilderness? Set up camp, of course but then what? Do you try to relax rest of day, go to theme park, go out to eat, downtown disney, or what?

Our FIRST NITES usually look like this, whether staying at The Fort or not:
. . . Dinner at either Trails End or HDDR
. . . Entertainment (autographs, Smores, singalong, movie) at Chip-n-Dale Campfire

On the first day we arrive we settle in, take a cart ride through the loops to see the decorations (we go during Halloween) then on the first night is the hoop dee doo revue.

First night is mostly setting up. First day is usually finish setting up, unwind and slow down a little. We don't always skip the parks, but if we do its a late start for a couple hours and usually dinner out.

We are planning to visit Downtown Disney and then one or two of the other resorts, nephew is a huge Cars fan.

- We generally arrive at The Fort around 1:00pm (only a 3 hour drive for us).
- First we setup camp (water, sewer, electric, and cable modem and our in coach WiFi) which doesn't take us too long.
- Then we have a light lunch.
- If weather permits we will ride our bikes around some of the loops (we gave up the golf cart thing 2 years ago - to expensive and the exercise is much better for us. Plus The Fort is a GREAT place to ride a bike!!!)
- After a bike ride, again weather permitted, we will usually take the boat from the Marina to Magic Kingdom - from MK we may go in the park and just walk around or we may take the resorts boat or Monorail and visit the resorts around MK.
- Sometimes we will find a place to have dinner either in MK or at one of the resort hotels
- Then we make our way back to the Fort and our home away from home.

Day one, arrival day, is normally just a slow paced, no plans day for us. We are just content being back at The Fort.

We usually arrive mid morning if site is available we set up usually takes us about 2 1/2 hrs. If not we get our golf cart and loop around have lunch, checkout Meadows by then we are usually able to get at our site. This year we are doing a little different son is graduating high school so he and his gf will be heading on over to DHS for SWW and I will help dh set up when we are done my dd8 and I will head to MK knock out some autographs maybe ride a few rides while dh relaxes at campsite. We will all meet up around dinner at DHS and watch Fantasmic!

We usually arrive around 3. Set up camp and then have a bite to eat from TE. After, we take the kids up to the pool for a quick swim then head to DTD. Get back to camp around 10:30, get a good nights sleep, then start our park days.

We usually spend a night around St. Augustine, FL, so we arrive about 10:30 am, set up takes only about 10 min. then we always hit the parks - too excited not to!!

Leave house 0500 arrive FW at 0730. Park in overflow if site is not ready, I make breakfast and we chill out. No big deal or need to do a thing. If site is available, set up, I make breakfast then chill or whatever strikes our interest.

Being at FW is relaxing and requires no immediate excursions to Parks to enhance enjoyment of being at WDW. Only food other than what I prepare would be at Earl's or Roaring Forks for a lunch.

We usually arrive around noon. We spend the afternoon setting up the RV, tents, hooking up to water sewer cable.
Depending on how we feel we might take a bus to down town Disney.
We will head to TE to get all of our souvenir mugs to get ever drop of our $ worth out of them.
Then the kids usually prep for their first night at the sing along and camp fire, they will bring hot dogs, smores and popcorn for a healthy Disney dinner.
My wife and I will then have a beer and or a glass of wine and usually get pulled pork sandwiches from TE.
We will spend the evening sitting outside the RV enjoying the sites and sounds of FW. While wrangling the baby and toddlers left with us, hopefully they go to sleep nice and early.

We will be arriving late around 8 or 9 at night after driving 14 hours so I think all we will be doing on arrival day is going straight to bed! If we are too excited to settle down to sleep right away, we might try walking down to the beach to see the fireworks and/or electrical parade.

I do have a Fort day planned for the next day so we can spend the morning settling in, then we are going to do brunch at chef mickey's, then pick up our golf cart, and depending on weather, either go do pony rides or go swimming. Then I plan on doing the campfire sing a long. So I think our Fort Day will be quite busy. Rest of the trip will all be park days but I do have three half days planned for the parks so we can spend a little more time at the fort.

We usually stay in S GA the night before arrival. Try to get to the Fort early afternoon. Set up, sometimes wander around the Settlement trading post and the beach. Then head to MK. Our family tradition on arrival day is to stand on Main Street with a few thousand of our friends and watch Wishes. That's our final "we are here" moment.
