What do you do at UF & IOA when it's just adults?

My husband and I are sneaking away next week for a little belated anniversary celebration (17th) without the kids. We are staying at PBH where I have stayed before but he hasn't. What things, restaurants etc. do you do when you go without your kids? We will be there for 4 days (3 nights) and just realized that we might get a little bored just napping by the pool (although that's what we have dreamed of!). What would you do?

As for the aforementioned kids, they went in late August and we'll be going back with them over New Years so they'll get their turn.

Unlike Disney, Universal caters more to older kids and adults, so there is plenty of stuff to do. You can do Citywalk and shake your bootie all night long. You might even want to ride the Caro-seuss-sel at IOA! :)

Ride the Hulk, Spiderman and Dr. Doom's Fearfall OVER and OVER and OVER again without having to hear "You guys have been here long enough -- now it's our turn to ride the Cat in the Hat." Then on to a nice relaxing lunch at Mythos where you won't have to cut up anybody's food, referee a fight or put juice in sippy cups. LOL! Seriously, though, there should be plenty to keep you busy between the theme parks, Citywalk and laying out at the pool. Have fun!!!

Are you kidding, don't feel guilty, go and have fun. I visit the parks by myself all the time leaving the wife and kid at home.
Arrive to each park early in the morning before 9am. Take a lap of walkon rides, go back to your hotel for a nap or swim, then come back at night.
If you have a rental car, visit SWF one day, and drive over to BGT which is 75 miles away. Takes about 1.5 hours to get there, but it's an easy drive. You'll be able to take your time, look at all the animals without the kids screaming they want a coke.
IOA, of coarse it's Mythos.
USF - Many choices.
SWF - Deli Shop with free beer samples.
BGT - Rib place by Stanley Falls.

Visit Publix (grocery story) and stock up a cooler. Enter these addresses into maps.yahoo.com for directions.

Wow, thanks!!

Don't get me wrong, I don't feel guilty but sometimes when we're used to doing so much as a family I think we really have to step back and figure how to go about being a grown up married couple again. It will be nice not to have to consider so many opinions but as you can guess by our "grownup getaway trip" (rather than Vegas or some other sophisticated destination) to Orlando maybe we aren't as grownup as the years may show!!!

What about a romantic meal at Mama Della's? OR a his and her spa treatment at the green house spa? Or a movie at the Cineplex in Citywalk.

We did a grownups trip last year to USF/IOA and Discovery Cove... for our 10 year wedding anniversary.

Discovery Cove is a wonderful place.

So true about Mythos, you don't have to cut meat, enjoy the view, and not worry about the kids!

You can ride DD multiple times! You can go on Spiderman so many times you will have all the audio memorized!

Another 17 years of marriage person here! We're heading to Universal and Potofino Bay on 12/5 for 3 night. It's just the two of us, so we are looking forward to seeing what they have to offer adults. We've been to Universal Studios, but haven't been to IoA, City Walk or stayed at one of the Universal hotels yet, so we're looking forward to a Disney change of pace.

We have reservations at Emeril's for Saturday night. Other than that, I think some of the suggestions already made sound terrific!

Have a great time!

When dh and I went by ourselves (after a trip w/kids) some of favorite things we did weren't even rides, lol! We had our caracature picture done at POE at IOA; spent alot of time one late afternoon in the hot tub, for supper we got take out from Mama Della's(I was surprised they would do that), antipasta and timarasu, and ate my dessert FIRST :p while waiting for a pizza at Sal's deli. Then we took the whole thing back to the room and enjoyed it with a bottle of wine we brought from home.

One evening we went to the Thirsty Fish. We borrowed one of their backgammon games and sat out on their terrace drinking bass ales.

In Lost Continent we spent time watching the craftsmen while they worked. It was nice to be able to take as long we wanted.
:D We had leisurely lunches at the parks andhad a bartender take our picture at the backwater bar!

We rode Spiderman, hulk and both front seats of Dueling Dragons one after another.

One evening we went through almost every shop at Citywalk! Neither of us are big shoppers but it was fun looking for souvenires for the kids.

You'll have a great time. Oh yeah, the tubs in the Portofinos bathrooms fit two adults comfortably.

Thanks for the advice, that seems just about my speed! I just hopped on the computer to type some last minute schedules for the kids (and their babysitter). We're off tommorrow am at 8:55 am so we should be there by lunch time. I'll let you know what I find to do when I get back.

well, we are a grown up couple and we run to be as close to first in line for the hulk as we can...lol:smooth:
Universal as so many shows if you really don't like the thrill rides.
Citywalk is great. We love margaritaville.
