What do you do around the world?

My family doesn't drink, so what else can you do around the world? I have heard of candy around the world and desserts around the world. If you do either of these or something else, what are your 'not to miss' items?

My sons are saying as I read this, "it's just a cool place." Go in all the places and enjoy it. One of them said, "snack around the world!" Of course, I think you could get rather full. There is just so much interesting to do and see. My sons are 13 and 15 and they obviously don't drink and they love walking around the world and looking at everything, tasting a few things, and just enjoying the sites and the sounds. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do. By the way, I don't "drink around the world, either."

We always snack around the world....but there are 7 of us and we usually all share 1 or 2 of the 'snacks' so we don't end up getting too full before supper. You could collect pressed pennies around the world, do the passport like the kids do.

Here is a Scavenger hunt in Epcot thread with lots of cool ideas: http://http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2095595

On All Ears they have a list as well of fun thing to do around Epcot: http://allears.net/tp/ep/issue333.htm

and I haven't heard much about it but the Kim Possible scavenger hunt might still be around? We've never done that though, so I have no input.

Iwas going to recommend this. It is still going on.
There were a lot of people (even adults) doing this.
They seemed to enjoy it.

I had considered doing this in combination with the drink around the world:), but never got around to it.

Make sure you get there early as they do run out of communicators on busy days.

You may also want to post this question the Theme Parks Attractions and Strategies board.

A pastry in every country. Yummmmm Maybe 3 or 4 in France

We are not on the dining plan for our upcoming trip, and I was thinking of eating around the world instead of having a sit-down dinner. I'm sure we'll find enough to eat :)

My daughter and I enjoy re-enacting a segment of an old Simpsons episode, in which Homer discovered that an American embassy in Australia is considered American soil: We stand with one foot in, for example, France and the other foot in the UK, and we jump from one foot to the other, exclaiming, "France!" and "The UK!" as we land on each foot. We do that as we go from one country to the next.

Yeah, we're pretty stupid. :rotfl2:

We did this on our last trip in May and can not wait to do it again December. We (DP, DS (6), DD(9) and myself) would get one combo meal with drink and dessert from each country we could. That way everyone could have a bit of everything. We were full (and we are hearty eaters) after Germany, Japan and Morocco. Of course we did leave enough room for pastries from France.

This time we plan on eating in - Mexico, UK, China and Morocco (because we loved that one so much!). :)

Have fun!!!

That is exactly what my sister does. She's not into getting the dining plan. Her girls love the princesses so they do the lunch in Norway with the princesses as their bigger meal of the day (and it also costs less than dinner, remember she's not on the dining plan). My sister loves the food there too (and she also loves the princesses!) so it works for her. Then, as the late afternoon and evening approach, they snack around the countries and try different smaller things in each one...they share certain things and they have a lot of fun. This is not as much our style, as we prefer to sit down to dinner. DH, the boys and I will enjoy a CS meal for lunch in one of the countries, then go to a TS in a different country for dinner. We use snack credits in the afternoon as well, but we share things. I guess that's why we decided to do 3 Epcot days on our next trip...so we can dine in 6 different countries!

As far as things to do, we are spending one of our 3 Epcot days only in the World Showcase. We will get a later start that day and get to the WS at 11 when it opens. We'll be staying at BWV so we can just walk there and we are right in the WS. We're going to enjoy the foods there, and also look in the shops. I don't usually buy anything but I love looking at things from other countries, I just find it fascinating. I love the masks in Italy! I will also chat in Italian with the CMs in Italy, my kids get a kick out of that as well! Actually so does DH! :lmao:

I plan to get my boys passports on our next trip so they can enjoy getting them stamped in each country. They'll be 3 and 5 when we go, so they will still be little, but I think they will be interested in other cultures. They go to a school that celebrates everything, not only Christmas and Hanukkah, but Chinese New Year, Purim, St. Patrick's Day, etc. I know they will enjoy going into "China" and I am sure at least my big one will talk about celebrating Chinese New Year at his school!! He always talks about the various holidays they learn about.

We will be on the DDP and I have read reports that people were able to use snack credits to get various candies from the different countries, which would be great to bring home!

We don't do a sit down dinner and snack and share meals around the world! We love it!! We get to try a little bit from most of the countries.

We look for hidden Mickeys around the world. We have a book that lists the hidden mickeys so if we can't find them we can cheat a little.

I LOVE the snack around the world idea! Never thought of it but will definitely put it on the agenda for our next trip.

This past June, we did Kim Possible (which is fun). We also collected pressed pennies from every country and got our "passport" stamped. It was all fun and would definitely do it again.
