This is exactly what I consider it to be. Along with burgers, fries, onion rings. YOu know, all the good stuff that is soooooo bad for you.

Burgers
Wings
Fries
Mozzarella Sticks
Jalapeno Poppers
Fish-n-chips
Nachos
Onion Rings
Chicken Fingers

If you're talking a UK pub, I think fish & chips, Ploughmans lunch & Steak & Guinness pie.

And now I'm hungry!

If it's fried, fattening or comes with ranch dressing to dip it in, its pub grub in my book.

Yup. All that nasty fried stuff that is so bad for you, but sooooo good.

Then again, there's a lot of "upscale" bars around that serve gourmet food.

Along with everything else that was posted - chili, reuben sandwich, club sandwich, taco basket, ribs.

Sandwiches, burgers, chili, nachos, anything smothered in cheese and bacon, and anything you can dip into a sauce are pub grub. Pizza might even be considered pub grub if it's served in...a pub.

Pizza in a pub is my idea of Heaven! :cloud9:

There's a dive bar (it was featured on Diners, Drive ins and Dives) across the street from where I work. They are known for their smoke Prime Rib and steak sandwiches. Nothing upscale about the place other than the food.

I think a lot of it's regional too. In New Orleans, for example, pub grub also includes gumbo, red beans and rice, various seafood dishes and southern comfort foods (fried chicken, mashed potatoes, chicken fried steak, etc.)

Kinda on topic
Thanks to Jeopardy tonight I learned the diffeence between
Cottage Pie and Shepard Pie.
Cottage = beef
Shepard = lamb

which means most "Pubs" in the States are making shepards pie wrong
Really didn't want to hear that those Shephards were eating the poor
little lambs either !

Good to know, next time I make it, I will make sure to call it cottage pie!

BTW, this thread is making me hungry....
