Planning a late July visit to DLR and just started getting together my backpack and the items I plan to bring to the parks. I'll be packing for 5 people. So far, this is what I have...

3x Compact Umbrella's by Totes with a SunGuard UPF 50+ (keeps the shaded area under the umbrella 20 degrees cooler)
10x Disposable Water Resistant Poncho's (we'll use 5x of them on Splash and 5x of them on GRR)
5x Water Bottles (Will keep filling up each time we do a mobile order and during our sit down lunch\dinner reservations
5x Small Towels (Soak them all in water and put in our hotel refrigerator overnight to help keep our water cooler and come in handy in 90 degree weather)
1x USB Battery Pack (I'll be on my Disneyland App the enter day, need to make sure my phone has enough juice to last the day)
1x bottle of sunscreen
1x pack of sanitizing wipes
1x hand sanitizer

Snacks - Pending all the long food waits on mobile orders, planning to bring some granola and fruit bars to help with hunger as we wait for snacks and lunch/dinner reservations

Band-Aids
Advil\Tylenol packets

Curious to hear what other people pack in their backpacks when you go to the parks?

I do not bring a backpack as my rule is if it doesn't fit in the cargo shorts it's not coming, but the shorts will have the following:

1 phone
1 condensed "park wallet" (really the drivers license holder from a full wallet) with printed card with itinerary, ID, credit card, a little cash
1 small bottle of sunscreen
1 emergency poncho in a ziplock bag that also contains several eyglass wipes and a couple of band-aids.
1 hard case for my glasses or sunglasses, whichever I am not wearing
1 small plastic tube of ibuprofen
1 pocket comb
1 small bottle of hand sanitizer (only recently and I barely used it so I doubt I will carry it again

I just packed our backpack. This is what currently have. I’ll add the battery back up & snacks later

Reusable water bottle
Metal straws
Extra masks
Hand sanitizer & disinfectant wipes
Bandaids & advil
Sunscreen
Extra ziploc or two
Mini hair brush & hair ties
Emergency feminine products
Sunglasses

Metal straws
Has DL gone to paper straws? I've most recently been to WDW and already managed to forget (it has been a helluva year I suppose) how much I hate the paper straws, I'll certainly need to add some reusables to our inventory before our August trip.

They did during our last trips in 2019. I don’t know what they’re using now.

I know the milk stand in GE gave paper straws. So did the the food stand near BTMRR when we got a frozen lemonade over the weekend.

Always have the following in the backpack:
Umbrella
Dry Bag
Portable Charger
Sanitizer
Towel
Medicine
Reusable Straws

Sometimes have:
Extra Camera and Lenes
Tripod
Rain Jacket

This is pretty much my set up for WDW or DL, some things come and go, but those are the bones

I had a phone charger and iphone cord, an extra disposable mask for each of us, sun screen, and a couple hair ties for DD. Sometimes we had a water bottle in there when one of us didn’t feel like carrying one. And I had a sun hat in it in the morning and again in the evening when it wasn’t needed. We just had a small string bag.

We usually go in the winter:

Phone case/wallet holds my phone, ID, insurance cards, Visa, and Disney Gift cards
Phone charging cord and battery charger
Bottle of water (just in case. we get a cup of water at every opportunity)
Small snacks
Tissues/Wipes
Disposable ponchos in their tiny original packages (for rain or Splash. We often don't use them and just get wet).
socks
Hand sanitizer
Tube of advil/tylenol
Moleskin/Bandaids/antibiotic cream
big Ziploc bag for phones on Splash/ GRR
Sunglasses
Reading glasses (for looking at price tags. LOL)

If it looks rainy I'll wear my rain coat.

In summer I'll add:

Sunscreen
Maybe an Umbrella (for sun)

I have a Tinkerbell backpack I only use at Disney. It's smallish and easy to stow on rides like Indy.

edited to add:
chapstick and masks.
also I ordered cooling towels today. Had never heard of them and we don’t do well in the heat. This is why I love these boards. ❤️

Yes, only paper straws available. I don’t like metal straws, so I brought silicone straws.

We each carry a small backpack but I mule somethings and my husband others. I'll list what I have.

Sunscreen
Cooling towels
Water bottle
Battery charging boxes (usually 2 because someone else always forgets theirs and wants to use mine and I'm not fighting at Disney)
hand held fan
Tylenol/Advil
Sunglasses
Hand sanitizer

As little as possible, I’m “the dad” so I end up carrying everyone’s purchase stuff at the end of the day. ;)

but at the beginning, water bottles, sunscreen, and a few plastic bags (to use to put things during the water rides), and that’s it.

lanyard with my CC, a little cash, and any park pass.

OP, add masks, as well as extra disposables for water rides.

Also, hats. The sun can be brutal and the umbrellas are not always a practical option.

I'd personally ditch the ponchos. You'll dry very fast in the dry July heat.

I haven't been in the parks in a while but this is what I have/will carry in a medium-sized, cross-body purse:
  • Slimmed down wallet (Disney credit card, ID, medical insurance card and room key – everything else is stored in the room safe)
  • iPhone
  • Battery backup (micro-size, enough for just my phone)
  • Hard case for sunglasses/glasses (the bulkiest thing in the bag, unfortunately)
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Travel bottle of Advil
  • Band-Aids + Neosporin to Go
  • Chapstick
  • Touch-up powder with SPF (if I’m wearing makeup)
My husband carries a backpack with:
  • sunscreen
  • collapsible water bottles
  • a larger-capacity battery backup
  • Mini Clorox wipes packs to wipe down tables at quick-service locations (post-COVID addition)
  • Extra masks (post-COVID addition)
  • our sweatshirts, if it’s a warmer day that starts off cool
  • His personal stuff (wallet, iPhone and chapstick)
I think that’s it … this is a great packing list for future reference!

EDIT: If character interactions are back by October, our kiddo will also carry a small backpack with her autograph book, water bottle and something to keep her occupied in longer lines. This is our first stroller-less trip so I'm not sure what that will be just yet ... we really try to limited her tech, esp. while on vacation. Maybe a Hidden Mickey book.

I don't wear a full backpack, but I have a small "satchel" (yes, like The Hangover).
  • iPhone -- usually in my pocket
  • Minimal wallet -- usually in my pocket
  • Slim extra battery + cable
  • 2x granola bar (Cliff Bars)
  • WetOnes sanitizing wipes
  • Foldable fan
  • A couple of wrapped plastic straws (the ones in the park are paper)
  • Baby Banz (ear protection for my daughter), the bulkiest thing in my bag, sometimes I take this out and put it in the stroller
  • Sunscreen (usually transferred to a small bottle)
In the rainy season, I switch to a waterproof sailing bag (10L size), and pull out the sunscreen + foldable fan.

I had to sacrifice space, and a sunglass case just wouldn't fit. I now place them against my chest or lightly on top of the bag if I need to stow it away.

We still utilize a stroller (going away soon), attached to the stroller or underneath:
  • Sweaters (depending on weather/when we're out)
  • Hydroflask with paracords attached to hooks on stroller
  • Hats
  • Apple AirTag -- helps locate said stroller if it's moved. I've put it at the bottom of merchandise bags if we bought something and haven't dropped it off at the hotel yet (so I can track if it's stolen/taken).

Haven't seen anyone list my personal must-have: Dramamine! (My kids think taking pics of my green face on the Teacups is hilaaaaaaarious!) I usually take it while we're waiting in line for the park to open, since either Teacups or Mater's Jamboree are our third or fourth ride of the morning.

I have a tiny little fold up blanket thing that I like to take. It's useful for so many things - something to sit on when needed, or wrap up in if I'm desperate. And it folds up super small, so it doesn't take up much room.
