I am planning a trip to DW in January 2009. I would like to know what everyone find essential to have in there backpacks in the parks.

Thanks:cool1:

I'm expecting a few headaches. Just from being outside all day walking around and loud noises from rides. Man I'm getting old!

-chapstick
-ibuprofen
-excedrin
-muscle relaxers and painkillers (I have a bad back)
-ponchos and ziploc bags (for the water rides)
-extra pair of shoes for myself (I need to switch out during the day, most of the time)
-hoodie/light jacket if it gets cool at night

I used to haul everything around but the kitchen sink for everyone but got tired of being a pack mule. Now, everyone over 6 carries their own stuff. I carry water bottle, sunglasses, sunsreen, poncho, excedrin migrane. Everyone else carries their water, sunglasses, poncho, any meds. Maybe a small snack item.Oh, and of course, tickets and money which I usually carry on a lanyard type thing.

hand santizer, wet wipes, gum (as they don't sell it)I also hang on my strap of the backpack a wash cloth to get wet if it is warm...tissues, hard candy, and the time I knew I would be sitting on the grand to watch a parade or fireworks, I put a sweatshirt in the botton to have a little cushion...

I don't carry a backpack - just my purse. But I always have:

-money (about $100)
-credit card
-room key*
-park pass*
-fastpasses*
-chapstick
-tissues
-hand sanitizer
-cell phone
-camera
-gum

* = all in the ticket holder I have on my lanyard that I toss in my purse sometimes when I'm in the park

Those are my basics. :thumbsup2

Sweatshirt
Mini first aid kit with bandaids, wipes, and moleskin
Ibuprofin and vitamins
chapstick
safe key from room
camera
nail clippers
lanyard with room key if i'm not wearing it
wallet

I think that's about it

Let me think....
$$$
Disney credit card
room key
jackets (this time of year)
rain wear
water
chap stick
hand sanitizer
small toy -usually a matchbox size disney car-for my son to play with in line or on bus -(sometimes I let him bring his PSP.)
band aids
GUM!

I pile every thing into our backpacks and then put it into a locker, then carry one of those side bags(i do not know the name) around and go back to the locker as needed. The great thing about the lockers is that you can pay once and then take the reciept and use it all day at all the parks.

I carry the following:

-small plastic cont. with band-aids, ibuprofen, and zantac
-camera w/extra battery
-video camera w/extra battery
-several plastic baggies of varying sizes and a small piece of tinfoil (12"X12" folded)
-two ponchos (for me and the wife)
-extra pair of socks
-wet wipes
-hand sanitizer
-an old Pak Towel (kinda like a chamois) for drying off wet ride seats, sweat, etc..

As for money, credit cards, chapstick...Those remain in my pocket. Occassionally I will also carry a small lightweight travel tripod for my camera and video camera. It hooks to the outside of my bag, which is a Mountainsmith Lumbar Day Pack. It looks like a fannie pack with shoulder straps and is uber comfortable and very easy to use. Plus...you don't have to take it off when riding rides, just sit forward and it provides back support!

We split the following between 2 bags:

4 water bottles
powdered drink packets to use when we're tired of plain water
pain/headache medicine
gum
small first aid kit
sunglasses/visors
ponchos
small towel
small snacks

our backpack contains:
cameras
extra batteries/memory cards
small sunscreen
water
wet-ones wipes/hand gel
mini first aid (baggie size): moleskin, bandaids, neosporin, chapstick, ibuprofin, tweezers, eye drops

Depends on the time of year.....

passes
room key/safe key
sunblock
water
camera
Purell
ADRs
Showtimes
cell phone
head band
Motrin
money
umbrella (sometimes)
pen
tissues
sunglasses & their case
No wonder I need the Motrin!

We had:

park passes
credit card
itinerary
camera
cell phone
ponchos when it was calling for rain - of course it rained on the 2 days it wasn't calling for rain & we didn't have our ponchos :headache:
moleskin
drivers license
chap stick
lotion

I think that's it....

Thanks for sharing this info. I love to hear about what other people bring with them. That's sounds a little weird, doesn't it?

[QUOTEa small piece of tinfoil (12"X12" folded)QUOTE]

I'm dying to know...what's the foil for?

I wear a bright lime green daypack. I didn't use to carry a credit card - I just put charges on my room key, but then one day the bank didn't recognize it thinking it might have been a fraudulent charge so now I carry one that I do NOT have on record with the resort

money about $20
room key
park pass
fastpasses
water
tissues
hand sanitizer
cell phone
camera
plan for the day with ADRs and their numbers
park map and entertainment times
inhaler
aleve
paperback if I am solo to read while I eat
a light fleece if I will be there at night and it is during the winter
poncho
sunblock during summer

Not a backpack, but in my bag I have:

Driver's License, KTTW card, Cash
Mints
Ibuprofen
Camera and Extra battery
ponchos (in ziploc bag)
Reference page for the day (Has ADR #s, park hours, to dos, etc.)
Pen & small notebook
nail file
chapstick
Crystal light singles for flavoring water
Band aids
small chamois for drying seats, etc..
eyedrops
cell phone
