What do you buy your parents for Christmas?

My mom passed away in early 2016, so my dad struggles at holiday time. I hate asking him if there is anything he would want/need, because my mom always handled letting my brother & I know what he wanted or needed. His budget is extremely tight, but I also didn't want to just send a gift card. So, I just ordered a box from Harry & David with pears, apples & oranges. I'm pretty sure he'll like the variety rather than just all pears. Plus, he's recently been diagnosed diabetic, so fruit is his only treat nowadays. I'll also send him a calendar. My mom kept one in the kitchen, and last year he was so lost on where to even go buy one. Bless his heart. I do wish we lived closer so I could help him out more.

Just a thought, I would write birthdays and other special dates on the calendar before giving it to him. That way he won't feel "lost" when it comes to birthdays etc.

I sent my dad and his girlfriend 3 lbs of Mackinac Island Fudge. 6 different flavors 1/2 lb each

I need fresh ideas too. I already bought dad a puzzle and mom pjs, but need to browse this thread again for other suggestions. They live with us so they don't need new gadgets for the home. We bought my mom a kindle last year but she rarely uses it. They're more "practical gift" people.
