When going to your DVC, what kind of food do you bring from home or do you just buy it all there? DH and I are having a discussion on me 'sneaking' stuff in his suitcase. I find I'll bring mostly breakfast items (sans eggs, milk, etc) since it seems that's what we don't want to do.....get up, get dressed, go stand in line somewhere for breakfast. I don't want to spend my precious and way too short vacation timie in a grocery store and try and not fequent the marketplaces on property, only due to high costs. What my DH (a nondisney lover) has now come to enjoy the most about being a DVC member is not having to kamakazing it through the parks and having to rush first thing in the morning.

Do all rooms always have salt/pepper in them or have I just been lucky on my last few trips that they're in the rooms?

It depends on what we're eating that year. :)

We either have carried with us, or shipped down, protein shake mix, protein bars, coffee, coffee creamer (sealed package only), oatmeal, and sweetener.

The only items we bring with us are the snacks and such that we eat for the drive down there.

We drive to the Super Walmart about 5 miles away and get the stuff we need then. Its a 2 day drive so I have plenty of time to make out a list of food and get what we need and get out.

Someone will correct me if I am wrong, but I think you have just been lucky, because they no longer stock salt and pepper in the rooms (at least not in those shaker packs). I always bring that along with coffee/filters, breakfast bars, etc. If I want to buy down there, I usually stop at Albertson's on my way from the airport. The one I use (can't remember the exit now!) has a fax number that you can use to fax your order and they will have it ready at the service desk, in case you don't want to "shop" on your own. I find that shopping there is less hectic traffic-wise than other stores closer to property.

Coffee, coffee oh & coffee :lmao: Oh & sugar for my coffee, along with coffee filters! We also bring snacks or whatever for the travel time...

I've ordered food before from Omaha Steaks, it gets shipped right there which is great!

We stop at the grocery ONCE on our way, get whatever else we need like milk & cream & then off to Disney... Anything we run out of we just get at the Marketplace.... it's not really worth going off site to get anything we temporarily run out of!

I'm thinking of buying the pre cooked bacon from sam's club, I think when I get there I"ll get eggs, milk, bread... so we can have a great breakfast sandwich in the room - Sam's Club carries it and it is in a sealed container so I'll find room in the suitcase!!

I bring coffee packs from home, and cereal, if I've managed to get a good buy on the individual boxes, otherwise I get the cereal (one box and we have to agree on the kind) and other staples at the Publix, but yes, there is traffic involved.

We usually stay in studios and recently I've brought my electric sandwich maker for grilled cheese sandwiches in my/or Dh's suitcase.

Bobbi :)

Just to let you know, Aunt Jemima has little individual pancake batter packs all you do is add water.

I bring my own coffee, filters, creme cheese, and butter from home(in one of those small insulated freezer/cooler things). When we arrive, we always stop at Publix for water, beer, and food for breakfast. We are definitely not the type of people who are "up-and-out" early--in fact, our favorite thing to do is to sip our coffee while watching all of you scurrying around at 8 am.! I don't really move until around 10!

You know, my DH, didn't enjoy nor want to go to WDW until I (we) bought into DVC.
The above reason you stated is exactly why-coffee and people watching on the deck.

We usually drive. So I pack the dry and canned goods I know I am going to need. I will then go to the grocery to get the perishable items. :sunny:

It depends. If we drive, I bring alot of the non-parisables with me. Coffee, Splenda, cerial, breakfast bars, water, soda and snacks. If we fly, I wait till we get there and make a grocery stop. We stop at Publix. The prices aren't too bad.

I just take th breakfast items as well. Pancake shaker bottles (just add water) small syrup. cereal boxes and juice boxes. Snacks for the park. I have one small suitcase that I pack all this stuff in and when I come home there is room for all the stuff purchased. I will but a half gallon of milk at resort store and maybe eggs. For the extra money it cost to buy that stuff there definitely cheaper than going to a restaurant!!

I enjoy breakfast in the room. My girls are usually up early but it is a nice time for them to get a coupke pages of homework done while I make a nice breakfast. That is very important to start the day off for us. Doesn't take long to make and I know they will like it, don't have to stand in line or wait for a table.

Head to the bus stop and we are off all fresh and ready to start the day!!!

Satyed at BWV one time studio one time a one bedroom and we DID NOT have salt and pepper!!!

PS My sister said the coffee is horrible. So if you are a coffee drinker you will need all the fixens!!

Went home for the first time two weeks ago. After some discussion, my mom & I packed a box with her "special" coffee and all my 4 yr old snacks, along with sun screen, shampoo, and some other "heavy" stuff and shipped it down ahead of my arrival date. I hate carrying heavy suit cases!!! We did all free Disney transportation, so I also preordered from Garden Grocer all the perishable items. Worked out great. No heavy lifting for me, mom & daugher had all the comforts of snacks from home. We used up mostly everything and didn't need to ship back a box home.

Do you mean those stoves really work?? :rotfl: Don't tell my DH! Anyway, I just bring english muffins and peanut butter, popcorn and wine! When we were at the BCVs during Charley it was our emergency rations!

I'm bringing a sleeve of bagels and a package of Laughing Cow cheese (shelf-stable until open!) for breakfast. I plan to supplement it with fresh fruit from the little grocery store at SSR. The shopping list has the fruit all listed as 99 cents per piece. I'm also packing tea bags and disposable insulated cups, so that takes care of breakfast.

As far as snacks go, I'm bringing one bag of microwave popcorn and some of the Target brand drink mix packets that are a knock-off of Crystal Light To Go. I'm bringing a small Brita pitcher (primarily for my morning tea), and I figure if that doesn't kill the taste of the drinking water, the strawberry lemonade might! Originally, I had three bags of popcorn and fourteen granola bars, but then I developed something at least approaching practicality and realized that I'm going to be on the dining plan. How many snacks could I possibly need? I drew the line at eliminating all of the popcorn, though. Sometimes I just need some Act II.

We usually drive down and when we do we pack a Rubbermaid tote full of stuff. We always stay in a studio and you don't get much in there so we bring paper plates, plastic eating utensils, coffee (you only get one packet through the whole stay and then you are charged something like $3 for each additional packet), creamer, snacks, bread/english muffins for breakfast and sandwiches, baggies, salt/pepper shakers, large spoon.

This time when we went to Hilton Head we also brought utensils and spices so we could grill as well as foil and a foil pan. I did also bring steak knives for the meat we grilled. We have an SUV and we got this thing that goes on the back and you can carry more stuff with you and so that helped us this time. Usually we can pack things well in the car. We also bring soda and water but this time we ended up needing to get more water and then perishable stuff - salad mix, lunchmeat for sandwiches, etc.

We generally bring down snacks for the plane - fruit snacks, bars of some sort and each of us brings a bottle of our favorite drink (nwa serves pepsi products... :crazy2: ) and then we buy the doughnuts at the resort store.

We always make a trip to SuperTarget or Walmart the first day...it takes an hour and we can get yogurt, english muffins, pb&j, butter, frozen waffles and syrup, hot dogs and buns, ketchup and mustard, chips, ice cream, salt and pepper, cereal and milk, bread, fruit, juice, soda, and anything else that catches our eye. I have thought about bringing the things like ketchup, mustard, pb&j, salt and pepper, syrup, etc with me on the plane but I am really wiggy about bringing anything that is already open - I have nightmares of a suitcase of clothes covered in grape jelly :sad2: - and the prices for the same thing down in Orlando at Target/Walmart (particularly if you go with the Target brand) are the same or lower than up here, so I can also eliminate the extra weight in the suitcases. The Target trip has become a tradition too and I almost look forward to it. We also pick up anything we have forgotten, or anything too big to pack - swimming noodles, pullups and wipes, etc.

This trip will be different - we'll be on the DDP for 6 of the nights and Poly Concierge for 4 of them, so we'll be cutting way back on our snack and meal groceries and sticking with breakfast items and soda.

I've not had salt & pepper last two trips and bought them at the store.

I always leave them behind. Maybe you always get the room I have just vacated!!!
