What do you at Downtown Disney on your Trip?

There is a lego store at DTD that my 10 year old could of spent hours in. There is also a huge Disney store with just about anything you might want. Goofy's candu shoppe is fun to, they have stuff you can have dipped in chocolate. The rainforest cafe is there also.

Once Upon a Toy - big toy store - is there. There's also a fountain that my 3, 4, and 7 year old (at the time) loved to play in!

Isn't there a carousel and a mini train ride? My memory is going, so someone correct me if I'm wrong!

Our kids love the giant Disney store and the Lego store and just walking around and enjoying the nice weather! Stop by Ghiradelli's for some ice cream too!

Yes, there was a carousel and mini train the last time we were there!

Argue. (you asked :lmao: )

dh thinks "we're on vacation. I can spend all the money in the world" and as you have guessed, I feel differently. Furthermore, its usually after a full day in a park, so everyone is tired. I prefer to skip it.

We went for the first time on our last trip and we really liked it. We went the night of one of our "off" days from the park. It has a really nice atmosphere. There is music playing in the background as you walk around. There are 3-4 kid themed Disney type stores. We like the Christmas store too. The LEGO statues are cool to look at and the kids can play with LEGOs too. Goofy's candy store was fun and not that expensive. I plan to get a brownie sundae at Ghiraldies next time too. We will make it a new tradition to go here each trip now.

A few years ago we went in the evening when it was a little cooler. There's an outdoor area with a stage (I think near the Lego store, but I can't remember). They had a DJ there and had all the kids (and some parents) up there dancing. My DS didn't want to dance and my DH and I weren't about to get up there, but it was fun just to watch the people and eat our ice cream. A nice, free, way to spend some time.

We go on an off day and enjoy the atmosphere, let DS ride the carosel and train. Play in the lego area and fountains, also we love to make potato heads and now there are star wars light sabers. We love to get ice cream or coffee. Sometimes we'll eat at the rainforest.

We hardly ever go to the west side due to having to walk through pleasure island. Too much walking after all the walking we do while there.

Don't forget the Christmas Store. It always smells really good and it is cold in there.

Making a treat at Goofy's Candy Company is a must for us if we go to Downtown Disney.

Silly question but is there a charge for the kids to ride the train or carousel?

We didn't have a chance to go to DTD during our trip last year, but this year my DS really wants to go to the Lego imagination center:yay: , and I love Christmas ornaments so the Christmas store is a must::yes:: ! Goofy's Candy Co. sounds good too!!:goodvibes

Yea, its $2 each to ride the train, and you have to get the little tokens out of the machine next to it. The carousel was broke when we were there. We went in to the Lego store and let the kids get Legos. They have two different cup sizes that have a flat rate, and you can put in any of the loose pieces you want until its full. They have statues of Cinderella and Aurora by the big Disney store. Buzz Lightyear and Potato Head next to the potato head store (dont remember the name), a Pirate one, and they have a little scene set up with Pooh, Tigger and Piglet.

Here are some of the things we like to do...

1. Browse Christmas store

2. Browse Once Upon a Toy and play w/potatos and ponies. If you plan on buying potato parts, bring your own taters from home and just stuff the box w/the super duper Disney parts.

3. Browse Wonders of Disney

4. Ice cream at Ghiradellis or lunch/dinner at Earl of Sandwich

5. If you have picky eaters, there is a McDonalds that children on vacation seem to consider a culinary delight.

6. Plan for at least 1 hour at the building stations at the Lego Store...don't even have to go inside, but if you do it is a lot of fun to fill the cups with the special lego pieces. Have a cofee or fruity drink and relax while the kids get some lego therapy.

7. There is a great $10 and under store next to Goofy's Candy Store.

8. There is also a huge pin store and pin trading area if you have any pin traders/collectors.

9. On the West Side, there is an awesome, plush movie theater. Disney Quest is also over there for arcade/video/virtual reality games.

happy planning

This Aug DS & I are actually planning 1.5 days there at the beginning of our vacation.
Arrival day instead of a park we'll head to DD for lunch at Fultons, stop at the Lego store, Goofy's and Ghiradelli. Boat back to PO/Riverside.
Next day go to Disney Quest which will be a first for us. Break it up by having lunch at Earl of Sandwich. Boat back to PO/Riverside.

Eat at Wolfgang Puck's. Or at W-P-Express if you don't want a full sit down meal. yummy. It's covered on the Dining Plan too! :)
