What do we take in our backpacks? How's mine so far:

Ok can i also recommend a travel size deoderant...Just in case its really hot and the deoderant you put on in the morning doesnt hold out or in case ya got really wet...Its no fun to be stuck in a line very close to a person that smells bad...i'm fairly short(5'2) so i'm at armpit level to some of you taller people. I'll use mine so i dont stink at the level of your childs head...now you use yours and save my nose.

Where can I find edible glitter??? That sounds like areally cute idea!!!

Thanks :)

I think it is made by Wilton. I have seen it at Michael's and JoAnne Fabrics. It is like $2.89 a bottle and comes in different colors. I learned about it from someone else on this board (sorry, I can't remember who, to give the credit too). They said that regular glitter is REALLY hard to get out of hair but the edible disolves.

ZIPLOC BAGGIES FOR THE AUTOGRAPH BOOKS AND FOR THE SHARPIES! Boy, oh boy-was I ever so happy I did that on our last trip! I put the autograph book in one to protect it and the huge marker in one to protect everything else! One of the markers leaked yet luckily nothing was ruined! Well, Woody from Toy Story) needed a costume change... :guilty:

Wow, these are great lists! I always seem to forget something everytime we go. It never fails.

I usually get the Shout stain wipes too. I've saved some nice kahki capris(from a melted chocolate stain no less) and a white tee this way. I got the mini Tide stain stick this time though.

Going to be a Disney first-timer in October, so excuse me if this question is really dumb:

How do you go on rides with a backpack filled with so much stuff?? Do you have a family member who does not ride, or do these backpacks somehow fit? Are the rides not as 'crazy' as Six Flags Great Adventure (on those rides, you can't even wear flip-flops!)

*thoroughly confused*

Aliki,

I live outside of Atlanta and have season passes to Six Flags. Just returned from trip to Disney - all the rides either have a seperate container to put bags in (Mission space, Soarin) or you can fit in the ride with you with no problem.

Things we packed in our backpack:
Peppermints
water bottle
Advil
sunscreen
camera
maps
reservation sheets
autograph book
sharpies
hand fan
gum
wallett
sunglasses

We kept ponchos in the bottom of our stroller in a seperate disney bag

I have to say the same about baby wipes. I can't tell you the number of ways we have used those things! Also, a few small dum-dum suckers come in quite handy for impatient little ones from time to time in the parks.

I took a drinking straw for DS when we went to AK.

as it can scare the (#%#@$#) out of our dd's!

Somebody said they use a stickit note to cover the sensor in the restrooms to keep the toilet from flushing too soon. This seemed like a good idea.

For most of the rides, as long as your pack isn't gianourmous and you're not terribly large, it's not a problem to get your pack either on your lap or by your feet on most rides. I'm 6'5.5" (large build) and have never had a problem with my pack on any of the rides. Even taken it on Rockin' Roller Coaster at MGM. Some of the rides have places specifically for bags. Star Tours has an area under each seat, Kali River Rapids has an area in the center of each boat (although you might be competing with others for the space). For rides Splash Mountain, I put the bag on the seat right in front of me (helps if you're in the front of the car, but not required). Since I generally lean forward a bit at the end of the hill (so that the water splashes over me and Mom or Dad get more wet), I haven't had a problem with the bag getting any more than just splashed. But, I still put anything electronic in either a water proof plastic case or a ziploc bag, just in case.

Haven't tried Mission Space yet, that's about the only one I wonder about.

Thanks for the replies! :)

I find that at Six Flags Great Adventure, with those crazy rides (throwing you upside down, going 0 to 160mph, etc) you can't wear flip-flops, sunglasses, nor any loose articles. Any backpacks go flying off those rides!!

Glad Disney isn't like that, so I will be bringing a backpack!

I must admit that I don't carry quite as much as many of you do. I don't bother with the umbrella, but I do take my ponchos with me almost every time. In FL, (especially at the time of year we go) you never know when it's going to rain.

A new item I've decided to bring is a "dry-off sport chamois". I saw some of our swim team members using them this summer and thought they would be very nice to have at WDW. It's kind of like having towel someone listed, but it can be wrung out pretty well and stores in a nice little plastic container.

Another weird item I take is a mini cassette recorder. I like to write detailed trip reports after our trip, so I use the recorder to keep notes.

Instead of regular wipes containers, I like the individually wrapped handiwipes. I can just toss a few in each time and they don't take up as much space or weigh as much.

Ack!! I need to get packing! :Pinkbounc
