What Do We Need to Bring With Us?

We bought DVC in 2011 but other than a 1 night stay post-cruise we have never used our points. This summer we are spending 8 nights at AKL-Kidani in a studio and then switching over to BWV for 2 nights in a studio. There are 4 of us, DH and I and two kids ages 9 and 12. I know we do not get daily housekeeping so I am trying to figure out what we need to bring.

I am thinking we need to bring:

towels (for pool and for showers - 2x/day showers in that heat - we will use a lot of them)

breakfast foods (pop-tarts, bagels, etc.)

paper plates and plastic utensils (I understand there are very limited supplies in a studio)

plastic cups

shampoo/body wash (minimal amount supplied again with 4 people showering 2x/day)

Laundry detergent (we will have to do laundry at least once maybe twice)

Some of the things I am questioning are items like toilet paper, hand soap, trash bags, etc.. I know we will get one Trash/Towel but is it likely we might need to provide these items ourselves or if we run out can we call and get them delivered at no charge?

Are there any other 'gotcha' items that might be helpful to pack that I am not thinking of?

Pool towels are at the pool, as many as you need. Towel packs are $6 for the room if you want to pay for them.

You will get a full cleaning on day 4 of your stay and all supplies will be replenished. We have never paid for towels or supplies, just asked housekeeping for some when we see them in the hall.

You don't need to bring towels for the pool. There are plenty at the pool for guests to use.

The bathroom will have 4 bath towels, 4 face cloths and 2 hand towels plus a bath mat. If you need more than that, you can bring more, pay for another set or just hang them up after using so that you can use them again. Housekeeping will bring you fresh towels on the 4th day of your stay. Day 1 is check-in day.

Seems right. You can bring plates, cups & utensils based on what you plan to eat/prepare in the studio. You can buy single load boxes of detergent in the laundry room if you don't want to bring a big box.

No charge for toilet paper or trash bags. Housekeeping will bring more if you need them. There will be a small bar of hand soap provided - it's usually more than enough for a family to use until it is replaced on trash 'n towel day. We always bring shampoo & conditioner - the small bottles aren't our preferred brand and are small

Salt and pepper, sugar, etc., coffee and filters if you drink a lot of coffee. You will get one or two packages of coffee (but it's never enough for me, LOL).

There's probably a few more things, but if you forget something, the resort stores have most things for sale that you might need.

Have fun!

Will 1 br's have more towels or just 4?

No need to bring any of these items.
Mousekeeping will bring extras at any time - no charge.
You can pickup the plates and utensils at the any quick service restaurant. In the bottom of all trash cans are extra trash bags.
As PP stated, you can get all the pool towels you need for the day at the pools.

We bring the tide pods for detergent, they work really well and don't take up much room/weight in luggage. I just double zip lock bag them, just in case one breaks open!

We are doing almost the same thing this summer and it is our first lengthy stay as members....we bought in 2013.

We are at Kidani then BLT in June.

There are nice showers at the pool at Kidani, adjacent to the fitness center. What we did in December was take showers at the pool......I used like 5 towels for my son and I. This cut down on wet towels in the room and I HATE tromping, half wet from a pool through a cold hotel hallway to the room. The room also does not get steamed up from the shower. Worked out well and cut down on the "getting ready" time after the visit to the pool.

We are very similar, in that we have a 9 and 12 year old. the studio is a little tight with the bed folded out, but it was not, in any way, uncomfortable.

I second the post above about more coffee. I bought a cup of coffee in the morning at Jahari Treasures, mainly because it was better in flavor than the in room coffee.

The laundry soap was pricey. Bring some in a ziploc bag. We are planning on packing sort of light and anticipate the same issue with laundry.
