What do we need cash for?

We are leaving in two days and will be hitting the bank soon. Please tell me what we need cash for. I'm already planning tips for mousekeeping, bell boys, and drivers. We have the DDP...are tips included in that or not? What about snack carts? I know that most souveniers can be charged back to the room. Also planning for airport needs. Anything else I haven't thought of yet? Overall, it doesn't seem like we'll need much.

Thanks so much!

:wave2: Yes, the tips are included in the 2007 DDP. However, we always carry cash for extra tips. Snack carts accept DDP, room charge or cash. We learned (the hard way ;) ) to also carry cash for a taxi. In our opinion, after a long day in the parks-or after shopping in DTD-a taxi can be true bliss. :goodvibes And then there is the airport and flight itself. Do you want a coffee, juice or snack while you wait for your flight? Once onboard, some airlines offer free snacks & beverages while others do not. Are you taking a taxi back & forth from the airport? These are the things that come to mind.

We take about $300 cash for a 7 day trip and end up bringing back most of it.
Hope that helps.:santa:

Thanks all -- I was going to ask same question!

Sorry to hi-jack, but our family is doing a carriage ride at POR too -- Anyone know what amount for tip there?

we take $300 for a week too and always have plenty for all the tips and come home with some left

I ended up buying a fair number of drinks/snacks even though we were on the DDP. DH would be running off for fastpasses so he had our KTTW cards and I would pay cash for what we needed. We had no problem using up all our snack credits even though I bought several with cash. I always made sure I had a $20 in my pocket for these times.

You know, I am trrying to think that when we were there in January, the only cash we spent the whole time was a bottle of water one day when we where where they did not take any type of card. We had the whole package paid for including the DDP. We needed no other food outside the plan and did not tip above the standard amount. We charged anything we bought back to the room and used our CC to pay it off or used our debit card. We drove & used debit for gas and food. Think we took a few hundred along just in case but took almost all of it back.

We have the land/sea package (my aunt & uncle are treating us). I read that meals were not included at Disney World but on the ship. So how do you not spend any money at the park?

We bring maybe $40 and end up bringing most of it back. The only thing I can remember specifically using cash for is valet and bell boy tips. I don't usually have any cash with me in the parks. Just my cell phone, ID (because I like to believe that someone still might want to card me for alcohol), and KTTW.

If you were told this, you probably do not have the dining plan for your land portion- I don't think it can be added, actually. I think the OP is talking about actual cold, hard cash...you need very little. Almost everything can be charged back to your room- linked to a credit card. I was surprised that nearly every vendor can accept room charge- even the lady manning the wagon rides at Ft. Wilderness has a little charge machine attached to her waist!

I'm not sure if dh and I even spent $100 in cash, and that would have all been in tips- most of the cash is needed at the airport, not WDW itself. The kids' spending money was all in cash, so they could actually see how much they were spending and how much they had left every day.
