What do you do with your camcorder when you go on a ride? We are borrowing one to capture all of our "magical" moments....but I don't want it to become a burden to carry around all the time. What do you do?

I don't risk it and I take it along on rides. A majority of your camcorders out there now are small enough to fit into a purse or something similar. I don't know how big the camcorder you will have will be, but I wouldn't take a chance on it getting lifted.

We used to hide it in our stroller under a diaper bag. Unfortunately since our daughter is now almost 5, we don't need a stroller, so I'm not sure what we'll do;)

If you still want to have it when you leave the ride, then take it with you. I'm always amazed at what people leave in their strollers - cameras, souvenirs, etc. Then they get all upset if something gets stolen. Use common sense - don't leave valuables unprotected.

I carry my cameras in a small back pack and always take them on the rides with me. On some rides (RNR, SM, etc) where you can't hold the bag, I just slip my legs through the straps and hold it behind/under my legs with no problem - I always carry a zip loc bag to put them in on 'wet' rides (on Kali they have a plastic covered bin in the middle of the raft). = I would never leave a camera (especially a borrowed one !) or anything else of value in the bottom of a stroller - last trip we watched a group approach their stroller to find their shopping bags gone - we did see many strollers with lots of items left in them, but it's a risky thing to do, IMHO.

My cameras are both quite small and I love having the pics/videos of my trips so much that I've never felt burdened by them. When I carried a bigger video a few years ago I picked a few times to carry it around and other times left it behind as it did seem to get heavier as the day wore on !!:smooth:

My camcorder actually fits in my fannypack. And my dh carrys a backpack, so I can switch the camcorder over to that if need be. If it's in the backpack, I wrap it in a towel to keep it from banging around.

My DH does all of the videotaping (He likes to video all of the rides we go on and this year has a goal to do all of them! ssshhhhh don't tell anyone. LOL) He carrys a camcorder bag which the camcorder fits in with the extra batteries and tapes.

He just got done transferring over our 2002 Honeymoon tapes to our computer to make DVDs. We have watched them a couple of times, but he mostly taped us walking all over WDW...let's just say that they are not easy to watch without getting extremely motion sick! They are great memories, nonetheless!

HTH,
Korey

We take our camcorder and camera bag on all rides. I wouldn't trust leaving it in the stroller. We have little ones, so we usually skip the fast rides anyway. I'm not sure what we would do on space mountain or something similar.

We take all of our stuff on all the rides, except when I (the wimp of the family) donn't go on, which I am assuming are the rides you are talking about. Then MIM carries it. I would be happy to hold yours too!!!! LOL!!!

Have Fun!!

I always carry my camcorder on the rides with me. I sometimes even take some shots while on the ride. The only time I dont is when I go on a thrill ride and my wife does not, she gets stuck with it.

Are there any rides where you can't (or not suppose to) take a video camera? We have a fairly compact video and a nice carrying case. I figured I'd takes these suggestions and simply wrap around my legs. But was curious if there were any "forbidden" places to actually take the camera.

Take it with you on the ride, then try to get immediate post-ride reactions and conversation. Its fun to capture the excitement on film.

There are a couple of attractions where they ask you not to videotape due to either copyright issues or guest courtesy, but there is nowhere you can't have your camera with you.
